Embodiments of systems and methods for digital control of elevator and other access gateways are described herein. More specifically, embodiments comprise systems and methods for retrofitting or outfitting elevator systems with digital control systems that can be universally applied to virtually every manufacturer's elevator systems.

Systems and methods for operation of elevators and other devices

A compressor system is disclosed with a base structure configured to support a compressor. A removable oil reservoir is connectable with the base structure. An oil drain tube is configured to be in fluid communication with portions of the compressor system and the oil reservoir. The oil reservoir is configured to slidingly move relative to the base structure and engage with the oil drain tube in a fluid sealing arrangement.

An elevator system includes one or more rails fixed in a hoistway and an elevator car configured to move through the hoistway along the one or more rails. The system includes one or more braking systems having one more braking surfaces secured to the elevator car and frictionally engageable with one or more rails of the elevator system. One or more actuators are operably connected to the one or more braking surfaces configured to urge engagement and/or disengagement of the one or more braking surfaces with the rail to stop and/or hold the elevator car during operation of the elevator system.

An exemplary elevator door frame includes a sill member and a header member. A plurality of jamb members are generally perpendicular to the sill member and the header member. A plurality of guide rail brackets are supported on at least one of the sill member, the header member or one of the jamb members. The guide rail brackets are configured to receive a portion of a guide rail.

An elevator associated within a hoistway and having a speed and position detection system. The elevator may include an elevator component associated within the hoistway, an optical sensor associated within the hoistway, an object associated within the hoistway in such a manner to be aligned in a path of the optical sensor, and a processor operatively coupled to the optical sensor. The optical sensor may be capable of emitting a signal and receiving a reflected signal of the emitted signal. The object may have surface features that may reflect the signal. The processor may be capable of processing the reflected signal to provide an output indicative of a speed and position of the elevator component.

An exemplary device for use in an elevator system includes at least one friction member that is selectively moveable into a damping position in which the friction member is useful to damp movement of an elevator car associated with the device. A solenoid actuator has an armature that is situated for vertical movement. The armature moves upward when the solenoid is energized to move the friction member into the damping position. The armature mass urges the armature in a downward vertical direction causing the friction member to move out of the damping position when the solenoid is not energized.

Frictional damper for reducing elevator car movement

An exemplary elevator system comprises a machine support () including a first portion () situated in a generally horizontal position at least partially within a hoistway (). A second portion () is oriented generally perpendicular to the first portion. The second portion has one end supported by a support surface () adjacent the hoistway such that a portion of a load of the machine support is transferred to the support surface. One end of the first portion () is supported by the second portion () and another end of the first portion is supported by a structural member at least partially in the hoistway such that a remainder of the load of the machine support is transferred to the structural member.

Elevator machine support

An exemplary mounting arrangement for an elevator machine comprises a first portion () and a second portion (). The first portion and the second portion are moveable relative to each other between a shipping position and a deployed position in which the first portion and the second portion are generally perpendicular to each other.

Elevator system and installation method

An exemplary method of controlling elevator car position includes determining that an elevator car requires re-leveling and determining whether a vibration damper is activated. A gain for controlling operation of a motor responsible for moving the elevator car for the re-leveling is adjusted if the vibration damper is activated.

A single support device () is adapted to support and secure a machine () at least one sheave () and a plurality of termination members (). The single support device () is conveniently installed within a hoistway () or within a machine room (). The machine () and sheave () may be premounted to the support device () and the entire assembly can be lowered into position by crane ().

Integrated support for elevator machine, sheaves and terminations

An elevator system includes a hoistway defined by a surrounding structure. An elevator car and counterweight are located in the hoistway, and a drive motor is located between the elevator car and a sidewall of the hoistway. The drive motor drivingly couples and suspends the elevator car and counterweight via at least one flat rope or belt.
