A method in a user equipment for attaching the user equipment to a mobile communications network comprises receiving a list of network slice identities, wherein a network slice identity identifies a portion of the mobile communications network that serves as a logical network to a set of user equipment (step). A network slice is selected based on one or more criteria (step). A network slice attachment request is sent to a network node (step), for requesting attachment of the user equipment to the selected network slice of the mobile communications network.

Apparatus and method for attaching user equipment to a mobile communications network

A system clock reference is transmitted to user devices over a short range communication channel and used to calculated a clock offset. The clock offset is stored together with a user identifier in a server memory, from which the clock offset can be retrieved when receiving the user identifier together with a video stream of video frames tagged with respective timestamps. The timestamps are converted into capture times according to a system clock using the retrieved clock offsets. Video streams from multiple user devices thereby have video frames timestamped using a same clock reference and can be time aligned.

Video stream synchronization

Using an authentication server to program network elements, such as a network node, in accordance with software-defined networking techniques in order to establish a traffic flow rule for a communication device or user of the communication device. After successfully authenticating a communication device or user, the authentication server and/or network node may use an identifier received at the authentication server in connection with the authentication procedure in order to obtain a traffic flow rule for the communication device. The traffic flow rule may be established at the network node or forwarded to a second network node configured to receive network packets from the communication device. The first identifier may be any one of a user identifier identifying a user, an application identifier identifying an application, and a device identifier unique to the communication device.

Systems and methods for routing traffic originating from a communication device

In response to a transition from a previous operational state to a current operational state of a given network partition of a plurality of network partitions of a core of a cellular network, a respective entry of a registry of the plurality of network partitions is updated. Network partition selection for a terminal is effected by participating in a communication of at least one selection control message corresponding to at least one entry of the registry.

A system clock reference is transmitted to user devices () over a short range communication channel () and used to calculated a clock offset. A method performed by a communications system, for authenticating a station, STA, to access a network is provided. The STA is capable of communicating with a light source. The method includes sending, by a management server to a controller of the light source, network access information, sending, by the light source to the STA, the received network access information, which network access information is sent to the STA via a Visual Light Communication (VLC) channel. The VLC channel is emitted from the light source and received by a light detector in the STA. The STA is authenticated to the network by sending the received network access information to an Access Point (AP) operating in the network in which the STA communicates with the AP via a communication channel.

Communications system, a station, a controller of a light source, and methods therein for authenticating the station to access a network

A biststream of encoded video data captured by a camera of a user device is received and decoded into a stream of decoded video frames. A light pattern representing a VLC signal captured by the camera is identified in at least one decoded video frame and decoded into a DRM identifier. Distribution of the bitstream is controlled based on a comparison of the DRM identifier and a defined DRM identifier. Hence, VCL is used to add watermarks to recorded video data and where such watermarks can be used to control distribution of copyright or digital rights protected video content.

Video distribution control

A VLC signal representing an alignment identifier is detected by cameras () of multiple user devices () filming a scene. Encoded video frames () from the user devices () are decoded and light patterns representing the captured VLC signal are identified in at least some of the video frames following decoding. The light patterns are decoded into alignment identifiers that are used in order to time align video frames () from different user devices () to thereby achieve video frame synchronization of video data from multiple user devices () recording a scene. The embodiments thereby enable video frame synchronization without the need for accurate clock synchronization between the user devices () and a video synchronization system ().

VLC-based video frame synchronization

Example embodiments presented herein are directed towards a physical node, and corresponding methods therein, for providing authentication of a wireless device within a visiting wireless network while the wireless device is in a roaming state. The wireless device is registered to a home wireless network. The physical node further comprises a virtual representation of a functionality of at least one core network node controlled by the home wireless network. Thus, such authentication may be provided and control according to home network based procedures.
