Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Described techniques provide for mitigating error in time or frequency adjustments for preambles of a random access procedure. A user equipment may use one value for the adjustment when transmitting data to a non-terrestrial network, but then transmit the preamble of a random access procedure according to a preamble-specific time or frequency adjustment based on one or more indications received from the network (e.g., rather than resetting the adjustment to '0'). By using some signaled value for the preamble-specific timing or frequency adjustment rather than resetting the adjustment to “0,” preamble reception performance may be maintained or improved with as many or fewer position measurements for the UE or non-terrestrial network entity.

Closed loop time and frequency corrections in non-terrestrial networks

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for identifying a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) independently of a channel quality indicator (CQI) table that is configured at a user equipment (UE). A rate matching parameter may be determined based on one or more of the MCS or CQI table, which may be used for dimensioning a soft buffer that is used to store received transmissions for decoding. The MCS field may be a six-bit field and may indicate an MCS that exceeds a highest MCS associated with the CQI table. The base station may activate a semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) configuration at the UE through an activation command, and the UE may verify that SPS is activated based on information in a number of different fields of control information which may include the MCS field.

Rate matching and semi persistent scheduling configuration in wireless communications

A method for wireless communication by a network node includes transmitting, to a group of user equipment (UEs), radio resource control (RRC) signaling to configure a function for enabling and disabling hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback for a set of N instances of a multicast transport block (TB). The method also includes transmitting, to the group of UEs, the set of N instances of the multicast TB. The method further includes transmitting, to the group of UEs, a downlink control information (DCI) message on a group-common physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) with a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) scrambled by a group-common radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) configured for the group of UEs. The method also includes receiving, from one or more UEs of the group of UEs, a HARQ feedback message associated with one or more instances of the set of N instances after transmitting all N instances.

Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback control for multicast communications

A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes receiving, from a base station, multicast data via a multicast channel. The method also includes transmitting, to the base station, multicast feedback based on receiving the multicast data. In some examples, the multicast feedback is associated with a group of UEs including the UE. The method further includes receiving, from the base station, a re-transmission of the multicast data on the multicast channel or a unicast channel based on one or more of a number of UEs served by the base station, a number of UEs from the group of UEs providing the multicast feedback, or a radio channel condition.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may measure a reference signal received power (RSRP) associated with a reference signal (RS) broadcast by a network. The UE may determine one or more multicast/broadcast communication parameters according to the group-specific multicast/broadcast communication configuration. The communication parameters may include a time resource allocation, a frequency resource allocation, a slot configuration, a downlink reference signal configuration and a resource mapping configuration for receiving multicast/broadcast downlink signals. A user equipment (UE) may receive broadcast information from a base station indicating a numerology or a reference signal (RS) pattern to be used in broadcast or multicast transmissions (e.g., a physical multicast channel (PMCH)). The UE may identify a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) associated with the broadcast or multicast transmission and may determine a transport block size (TBS) based on the MCS and at least one of the numerology or the RS pattern. For instance, a UE may determine TBS for numerologies associated with a single symbol that spans multiple subframes differently from that of other numerologies. Additionally or alternatively, a UE may determine TBS for sparse RS patterns differently from that of other RS patterns. The UE may then perform communication with the base station via the broadcast or multicast transmissions in accordance with the TBS.

A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, control signaling that indicates one or more parameters pertaining to reception of paging early indications (PEIs). The UE may receive a PEI from the base station in accordance with the one or more parameters. The UE may determine, based on the PEI, whether the UE is scheduled to receive a multicast paging message from the base station in a subsequent paging occasion (PO). If the UE is scheduled to receive a multicast paging message, the UE may monitor for the multicast paging message in the subsequent PO. Otherwise, the UE may enter a low-power state during the subsequent PO, which may result in greater power savings at the UE. The present disclosure relates to transmitting and receiving a group wake-up signal (WUS) in conjunction with an ungrouped WUS. A base station may group one or more UEs in a UE group, while other UEs may not be assigned to a UE group. The configuration of WUS resources and WUS sequences for grouped UEs and other UEs is a challenge. The base station may transmit, to one or more UEs in the UE group, a resource allocation of a group WUS resource within a set of WUS resources associated with a paging occasion that is assigned to the one or more UEs in the UE group. A UE, after receiving the resource allocation, may determine a location of the group WUS resource within the set of WUS resources. The UE may monitor for a group WUS at the determined location in the resource allocation of the group WUS resource.
