An exemplary extended reality presentation system determines that a depiction of an augmentable object within a field of view takes up a first portion of the field of view, and, in response to this determination, presents a first form of an overlay object within the field of view. The first form of the overlay object is graphically associated with the augmentable object. During the presenting of the first form of the overlay object within the field of view, the system determines that the depiction of the augmentable object has come to take up a second portion of the field of view, and, in response to this determination, replaces the first form of the overlay object with a second form of the overlay object within the field of view. The second form of the overlay object is distinct from the first form. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

Methods and systems for tailoring an extended reality overlay object

An exemplary extended reality presentation system presents, to a user, a field of view into an extended reality world, and identifies an augmentable object from a set of objects presented in the field of view. The system determines that the augmentable object is located at a first apparent proximity to the user, and presents, within the field of view, a first form of an overlay object graphically associated with the augmentable object. The first form is tailored to the first apparent proximity. Subsequent to determining that the augmentable object is located at the first apparent proximity, the system determines that the augmentable object has come to be located at a second apparent proximity to the user and replaces, within the field of view, the first form of the overlay object with a second form of the overlay object distinct from the first form and tailored to the second apparent proximity.

Methods and systems for automatically tailoring a form of an extended reality overlay object

A wearable device receives user configuration data that provides user-specific information for stored use cases and generates a personalized use case database based on the stored use cases and the user-specific information. The wearable device obtains location, sensor, time, and peripheral state data and detects a meaningful change in a most recent data instance of the location, sensor, time, or peripheral state data over an earlier data instance of the location, sensor, time, and peripheral state data. The wearable device determines if the most recent data instance corresponds to a particular use case in the personalized use case database; presents on a display a new home-screen experience, including multiple application user interfaces for the particular use case, when the most recent data instance corresponds to the particular use case; and changes a hardware state to enable use of the multiple application user interfaces in the new home-screen experience.

A user device may detect a connect event associated with a sensor device. The user device may be associated with a first sensor, and the sensor device may be associated with a second sensor. The user device may identify the second sensor based on detecting the connect event associated with the sensor device. The user device may replace the first sensor with the second sensor based on identifying the second sensor associated with the sensor device. The user device may provide data associated with the second sensor for use by an application of the user device.

Enabling interchangeability of sensor devices associated with a user device

A virtual reality (VR) device presents a virtual environment and detects an input that relates to a contact by a user. The VR device identifies attributes of the input, and the attributes include, for example, a portion of the VR device associated with the contact, a duration of the contact, and a direction of motion of the contact. The VR device modifies the presented virtual environment based on the input attributes, such as presenting a default view of the virtual environment when a first type of input is detected; moving a virtual horizon when a second type of input is detected; enlarging a depicted virtual object when a third type of input is detected; presenting a menu of options when a fourth type of input is detected; and capturing and presenting an image or video of the user's actual surroundings when a fifth type of input is detected.
