In one example, a method includes: obtaining viewership data related to users of a multiple-dwelling unit (MDU), processing the viewership data to generate at least one user list that includes one or more common characteristics shared by the plurality of users, identifying at least one target content item, based on the one or more common characteristics for the at least one user list, determining at least one target recording item for group recording, based on the at least one target content item, automatically performing group recording of the at least one target recording item to correspondingly generate at least one shared recording, storing a copy of each shared recording in a storage device, and providing access to the content of the shared recording to a user of the MDU upon request by the user.

Methods and systems for provisioning content streaming services are provided. In one example, a method includes: receiving user registration data of multiple users associated with an MDU, the user registration data including a user identifier and a user experience level for each user, generating a user profile for each user, the user profile including the user registration data, viewership data, and at least one user feature, grouping the users to generate multiple user segments, each user segment including a list of users associated with the user segment and at least one common feature or attribute of the users, designating specific streaming service and content resource to each user segment, based on the common user experience level and the common feature according to a pre-defined policy, and provisioning the designated streaming service and content resource to a user of the MDU, based on the user segment to which the user belongs.

User segmentation for multi-dwelling unit (MDU)

Methods and systems for provisioning content streaming service are provided. An example method includes dividing a network associated with a multi-dwelling unit (MDU) having multiple zones within the MDU into multiple network segments respectively corresponding to the multiple zones, dividing a content resource provided by the MDU into multiple segments respectively corresponding to the multiple network segments. Each segment of the content resource includes content items specific to the corresponding network segment based on a predetermined network policy. The method further includes receiving a request from a user equipment (UE) for access to a content item of the content resource, determining that the UE is associated with one of the network segments and that the requested content item is included in the segment of content resource specific to the network segment, and granting the access to the content item to the UE.

Network segmentation for multi-dwelling unit (MDU)

A unique code per pairing of each remote control to each controlled device (such as a TV or other media device) is used in infrared (IR) commands sent by the remote control for the device to detect if the remote control has been moved to a different room. The remote control supports both IR and short range wireless radio (e.g., Bluetooth®) commands. Both IR and Bluetooth® commands are sent on every key press of the remote control unit. When the IR command is received by the device, the device will check if the unique code is from a remote control unit currently paired to the device. If the unique code is not from a remote control unit currently paired to the device, the device will initiate pairing with the remote control unit and execute the command.

An automated process for multi-feed video systems comprises receiving a plurality of video feeds from a plurality of video-capture devices. The video feeds each have a quality parameter set to an initial value. A priority feed is selected from the video feeds. A quality parameter of the priority feed is set to a priority value in response to selecting the priority feed. The video-capture devices are instructed to format the video feeds based on the quality parameter of each video feed. The quality parameter for each video feed comprises a bitrate or a resolution for the video feed. The priority feed is streamed as a video output. The video feeds are displayed for selection in an interface, and the interface comprises a map including a location of the video-capture devices.

Methods and systems for provisioning content streaming services are provided. In one example, a method includes: receiving user registration data for users associated with an MDU, generating a user profile for each user, grouping users into multiple segments based on common user experience level and/or common features, performing network segmentation of the MDU network, generating an integrated user-network segment profile for each user segment, designating streaming services and content resources to each network segment within the same user segment, and provisioning streaming services and content resources in response to user requests.

Methods and systems for provisioning content streaming service are provided. In one example, a method includes: receiving a user request for streaming a content item from a user equipment (UE) connected to a first network segment corresponding to a first zone of a multi-dwelling unit (MDU), the user request including a first network identifier assigned to the first network segment and a user identity associated with the user, identifying the first network segment based on the first network identifier assigned to the first network segment, determining accessibility of the content item to the user, based on a pre-established network policy, performing an authentication process to authenticate the user based on the user identity associated with the user, and transmitting the requested content item to the UE via a routed network traffic over the first network segment to allow the UE to stream the requested content.

An method of operating a video production device receives a plurality of video input streams from a plurality of different video capture devices, and selects one of the video input streams as a current video output stream. In response to the selection, the method determines a prioritization scheme for the plurality of video input streams, generates video format instructions for each of the plurality of different video capture devices, in accordance with the determined prioritization scheme; and sends the video format instructions from the video production device to the plurality of different video capture devices. The video format instructions are configurable to be executed by the video capture devices to confirm or adjust at least one video quality setting of the video input streams, such that the current video output stream is of higher quality relative to unselected video input streams of the plurality of video input streams.

Systems, devices and processes and described herein to improve the generation of video content in video production systems. In general, the systems, devices and processes facilitate the incorporation of remotely generated user telestration inputs into output video streams generated by the video production systems. In one embodiment user telestration inputs are received at a control device. Minimum capture shapes corresponding to the user telestration inputs are then determined and images corresponding to the minimum capture shape are captured. The captured images are then transmitted from the control device to the video access point device. At the video access point device the captured images can then be combined with previously captured and transmitted images and overlaid with a selected input video stream. The video input stream with the overlaid image can then be transmitted as an output video stream.

Telestration capture for a digital video production system

A video production device is deployed to produce a video production stream of an event occurring within an environment that includes a plurality of different video capture devices capturing respective video input streams of the event. The video production device is programmed and operated to: receive video input streams from the video capture devices; determine, for each video capture device, an average root mean square (RMS) audio energy value over a period of time, to obtain device-specific average RMS values for the video capture devices; compare each device-specific average RMS value against a respective device-specific energy threshold value; identify which input stream is associated with an active speaker, based on the comparing step; select one of the identified streams as a current video output stream; and provide the selected stream as the current video output stream.

Audio-based automatic video feed selection for a digital video production system

A video production device is deployed to produce a video production stream of an event occurring within an environment that includes a plurality of different video capture devices capturing respective video input streams of the event. The video production device is programmed and operated to: receive a plurality of video input streams from the video capture devices; automatically select one of the video input streams as a current video output stream, in accordance with a visual activity based switching technique that identifies which of the plurality of video input streams is associated with a detected speaker; and provide the selected video input stream as the current video output stream.

Embodiments are directed towards presenting a current-playing-position marker on a progress bar along with real time content. An initial timeline value of the content may be determined, along with an initial presentation timestamp value for the first frame of the content. For each next frame of the content, a next timeline value may be determined based on a difference between a next presentation timestamp value for a corresponding next frame and the initial presentation timestamp value, and mapping of the next presentation timestamp value for the corresponding next frame and the next timeline value in the index file. The content and a progress bar may be displayed to the user on a remote device based on the index file. A position of the current-playing-position marker on the progress bar for each frame of the content may be determined based on the next timeline value for each corresponding frame.

A method of encoding a time-domain audio signal is presented. In the method, an electronic device receives the time-domain audio signal. The time-domain audio signal is transformed into a frequency-domain signal including a coefficient for each of a plurality of frequencies, which are grouped into frequency bands. For each frequency band, the energy of the band is determined, a scale factor for the band is determined based on the energy of the band, and the coefficients of the band are quantized based on the associated scale factor. The encoded audio signal is generated based on the quantized coefficients and the scale factors.
