The present invention relates to compositions comprising at least one elastomer and at least one plastic. The composition can be produced by preparing the elastomer and then blending it with the plastic. The composition can be subjected to an additional step of curing.

Nonvulcanized, thermoplastic elastomeric compositions useful in high quality, low voltage insulation. The compositions comprise polyolefin plastics blended with a copolymer of ethylene and an unsaturated ester of a lower carboxylic acid, olefinic elastomer and mineral filler and/or carbon black filler, and, optionally, hydrocarbon oil. Preferably the filler is alumina trihydrate which results in a flame-retardant insulation useful in building and communication wire.

This invention relates to improved front and rear fascia of a motor vehicle having improved flexibility, wherein the improved elastomeric composition used in forming the fascia includes a neutralized sulfonated elastomeric polymer, a polyolefinic thermoplastic resin and a preferential plasticizer. The formed fascia has an elastomeric-rich inner core which is composed of a blend of the neutralized sulfonated elastomeric polymer being plasticized with a preferential plasticizer and a polyolefinic thermoplastic resin, and a thermoplastic-rich outer shell which is composed of a thermoplastic blend of a major portion of the polyolefinic thermoplastic resin and a minor portion of the neutralized sulfonated elastomeric polymer being plasticized with a preferential plasticizer.

An injection-moldable, peroxide crosslinkable elastomeric composition comprises a mixture of a crystalline interpolymer comprising ethylene and propylene; a low density polyethylene; one or more multifunctional vinylic or allylic monomers; a medium to high structure form of carbon; and an organic peroxide. The composition is particularly useful for the fabrication of injection molded structures which are required to flex on impact and return to their original shape when the distorting force is released. Typical structures are automotive fender extensions, grilles and front and rear fascia.
