The disclosure relates to a security zipper and bag, or one-time closable zipper and bag, and methods of manufacture thereof, wherein the zipper includes double zipper profiles with a layer or strip of adhesive positioned between the two interlocking elements of one of the zipper profiles. Upon the one-time closing of the zipper, the adhesive secures the two double zipper profiles together and prevents a subsequent opening of the zipper or bag without leaving evidence of such opening, such as damage to the zipper or bag. Alternately, adhesive can be provided within the female profiles, with a liner over the adhesive to prevent premature activation.

Zipper for security bag and method of manufacture thereof

The water-resistant zipper includes first and second profiles which are interlocked or separated by the movement of a slider. A triangular island and separating plow are formed at the opening end to separate the first and second profiles. The slider includes various channels which engage corresponding rails in the profiles in order to properly position the profiles.

Slider for water-resistant zippers

A security zipper is provided, which includes a consumer side zipper pair and a product side zipper pair, where each zipper pair is capable of secure mating. Between the zipper pairs is an intermediate flange pair which is layered with an adhesive as well as an adhesive enhancer to securely connect the intermediate flange pair. A slider is provided over the consumer side zipper pair, the product side zipper pair and the intermediate flange pair which mates the zipper pairs and connects the intermediate flanges so that the zipper is securely closed. A bag is also disclosed, which includes the security zipper and a connected product side pouch. In addition, a method for manufacturing the bag is disclosed.

Zippered security bag

The water-resistant or waterproof zipper includes first and second profiles which are interlocked or separated by the movement of a slider. The first sidewall of the slider is generally planar while the second sidewall is generally curved so that the sidewalls are relatively closer together at the closing end and generally further apart at the opening end. A triangular island and separating plow are formed at the opening end to separate the first and second profiles. The slider includes various channels which engage corresponding rails in the profiles in order to properly position the profiles. The slider further includes various protrusions and a flange to properly position the profiles.

A polymeric void-board is placed between adjacent horizontal layers of bricks to maintain an opening in a lower of the layers. The void-board is fabricated from a first relatively thin planar element having first and second surfaces having a plurality of parallel ribs extending from and generally transverse to the first surface and a second relatively thin planar element having first and second surfaces having a plurality of parallel ribs extending from and generally transverse to the first surface. The first and second elements are joined to one another with the ribs of the first element engaging and joined to the second element.

Corrugated polymeric void board

The use of coextruded or integral sealing ribs on zipper flanges enhances the quality of the sealing between the flanges and the walls of a reclosable package. The coextruded sealing ribs may be made from sealing resins or similar materials. Additionally, grip strips are placed on the opposite side of the flanges from the ribs in order to improve the quality of the sealing even further and to inhibit inner flange sealing.

Zipper construction for enhanced sealing

A reclosable bag that can be hermetically sealed. The bag comprises a pair of zipper strips that are joined in respective zones without substantial deformation of the longitudinal profiled closure elements. These zones of zipper strip joinder assist in providing a leakproof transition from the openable section of the zipper to the corner seals, where the longitudinal profiled closure elements are either substantially deformed (e.g., crushed) or absent. The method of manufacture involves the steps of ultrasonically welding a wide area and then thermally crushing a narrower area overlapping the wide welded area to form leakproof zipper joints. This method can be applied to string (flangeless) zippers as well as flanged zippers.

Leakproof zipper end crush for reclosable bag and related method of manufacture

An ultrasonic welding assembly comprising a horn, an anvil and an anvil cover. The horn comprises a generally T-shaped flattening surface and a rail projecting forward of the flattening surface. The rail is shaped to serve as a dam for flowing thermoplastic zipper material during stomping of slider end stops. The horn further comprises a plurality of vertical energy directors designed to direct ultrasonic energy into the mass of zipper material and deflect flowing zipper material toward the dam. The horn further comprises first and second recesses located on opposite sides of a stem of the T-shaped flattening surface. The anvil cover overlies opposing portions of the anvil and comprises a T-shaped cutout. The T-shaped flattening surface of the horn fits in the T-shaped cutout of the anvil cover. The resulting zipper has slider end stops located at opposing ends. Each end stop comprises flattened zipper material having a plurality of spaced indentations, the indentations being formed by the energy directors during stomping. The zipper can be pre-heated prior to ultrasonic stomping. A flange of the zipper can be cooled by fluid during ultrasonic stomping of the zipper parts.

Method and apparatus for ultrasonically stomping slider end stops on zipper

A keeper (), a clamp (), a heater strip () and a heated air diffuser () are provided for a slider insertion apparatus () which inserts sliders () on the interlocked profiles () of a zipper (). The heater strip () and/or the diffuser () heat the zipper () to a predetermined temperature prior to slider insertion. The keeper () aligns the slider () within the insertion area () with the activator with pusher () of the slider insertion apparatus (). By changing the mounting of the zipper guide () and by actuating the clamp () during slider insertion, the zipper () indexes to the slider insertion apparatus () in alternate directions.

Apparatus for attaching sliders onto zipper bags and film

A reclosable package has a first wall and a second wall opposite to the front wall A first zipper profile including a first interlocking member is attached to the first wall and a second profile having a second interlocking member, engageable with the first interlocking member, is attached to the second wall. A slider is positioned on the profiles for movement along the profiles from side to side of the package. Package material is provided which must be removed or ruptured to permit operation of the slider or to provide access to the package contents. In either event, the steps needed to permit the initial access to the package contents leave clear evidence for a consumer that the package has been opened.

Tamper evident resealable packaging

A zipper strip for a reclosable package having a transverse zipper is provided. The zipper strip comprises a male interlocking profile and a female interlocking profile. Each profile includes an interlocking member and an integral web which defines a leading flange. The leading flanges are sealed to thermoplastic film material which is used to make the reclosable packages and to each other. A perforation extends along the length of the zipper strip so that the profiles can be readily separated.

Transverse direction zipper tape

A zipper strip for a reclosable package having a transverse zipper is provided. The zipper strip comprises a male interlocking profile and a female interlocking profile. Each profile includes an interlocking member and an integral web which defines a leading flange. The leading flanges are sealed to thermoplastic film material which is used to make the reclosable packages and to each other. One of leading flanges is provided with a perforation along its length so that it can be separated by pulling the profiles apart.

A zipper strip for a reclosable package having a transverse zipper is provided. The zipper strip comprises a male interlocking profile and a female interlocking profile. Each profile includes an interlocking member and an integral web which defines a trailing flange. One or both of the profiles are provided with high compression members which allow one or both of the interlocking members to be sealed to thermoplastic film without being crushed or distorted.

High compression transverse zipper system

A reclosable package for a consumer product includes a zipper strip having male and female interlocking profiles. The former has a male interlocking member having a cross section in the shape of an asymmetric arrowhead. The latter has a female interlocking member in the form of two mutually curving members defining a channel therebetween. The male interlocking member is snappingly engaged into the channel to reclose the package. The asymmetric male interlocking member has an acute edge outward of the interior of the package, and a rounded edge facing the inside of the package. This asymmetry makes the package easier to open from within than from without.
