A cationic-dyeable copolyester draw-texturing feed yarn of concentric sheath/core bicomponent filaments, with a sheath of cationic-dyeable polyester, and a core of homopolymer, whereby such feed yarn may be draw-textured on commercially-available machines to give cationically-dyeable textured yarns with a combination of good tensile properties, low broken filament counts and good bulk at economically viable cost.

Preparing cationic-dyeable textured yarns

A process for preparing spin-oriented feed yarns that may be processed into flat yarns by draw-warping, involving the use of lower withdrawal speeds than customary hitherto for preparing spin-oriented feed yarns, and preferably low draw-tensions.

Process for preparing polyester feed yarns

Flat heather polyester yarns that provide soft pleasing fabrics that can easily be brushed (or napped) to enhance their aesthetics, on account of their unusually low tenacity, that consist essentially of cationic dyeable polyester filaments with homopolymer filaments, and corresponding spin-oriented feed yarns that may be processed into such flat yarns by draw-warping.
