In an embodiment, the invention comprises a container comprising: a base; at least one sidewall extending upwardly from the base and terminating in a top edge, wherein the at least one sidewall is paper-based; a removable flexible membrane adhered to the top edge, wherein the membrane comprises a one-way valve; a liner ply at least partially adhered to an interior surface of the sidewall, wherein the liner ply is configured to at least partially release from the sidewall upon a pressure differential between the pressure within the container and the external pressure.

A container for holding a product such as snack food, wherein the container is transformable from a cylindrical shape to a bowl shape adapted to hold and provide easy access to the product. The container has a pleated sidewall comprising a plurality of longitudinally extending rigid sidewall panels and pleats, with each sidewall panel connected to adjacent pleats by frangible lines extending in the longitudinal direction.

A container for holding a product such as snack food, wherein the container is transformable from a cylindrical shape to a bowl shape adapted to hold and provide easy access to the product. The container comprises rigid sidewall panels connected by frangible lines and a flexible inner sleeve adhered to the inner surface of each sidewall panel. Pulling outwardly on the sidewall panels transforms the container into a bowl shaped structure large enough to hold the product.

A composite container is provided for holding one or more products (e.g., snack foods, toys, etc.) in separate compartments within the same container. The container includes a tubular body defining a first end and a second end, and the tubular body extends radially inward at a predefined location between the first and second ends to form a ledge. A separator, such as a paperboard or plastic disk, can be placed on the ledge, such that the separator defines a first compartment on one side of the separator and a second compartment on the other side of the separator. In this way, a product can be stored in the first compartment, and a product can be stored in the second compartment, and the user can have access to both in the same container. Associated methods of manufacturing a composite container with multiple compartments are also provided.

A composite container is provided for holding one or more products (e.g., snack foods, toys, etc.) in separate compartments within the same container. The container includes a tubular body defining a first end and a second end, and the tubular body extends radially inward at a predefined location between the first and second ends to form an angled ledge. A separator, such as a paperboard or plastic disk, can be placed on the ledge, such that the separator defines a first compartment on one side of the separator and a second compartment on the other side of the separator. In this way, a product can be stored in the first compartment, and a product can be stored in the second compartment, and the user can have access to both in the same container. A cylindrical container having a plastic overcap and flexible panels that can be assembled into a serving bowl are provided. The cylindrical container may hold snack foods or other items. The flexible bowl panels lock together and may mate with the overcap to form the serving bowl. The flexible bowl panels may be packaged outside one or more cylindrical containers or may fit inside a container.

A container and spout assembly in which the spout is pivotally attached to the container. The spout is pivotally moveable between a closed position in which a spout exterior wall is flush with the container sidewall and an open position in which a spout interior wall is flush with the sidewall and spout legs frictionally engage a detent. The spout accommodates a metered dose of product. In the fully open position, the spout seals the opening in the sidewall to prevent product from exiting the container while a metered dose is dispensed from the open spout.

A novel closure for a container is provided. The closure comprises an overcap and a built in blade ring for making a circumferential cut in the container body so the top portion of the body can be removed to expose the container contents.

A container and overcap assembly includes an open mouth container and an overcap with a built-in spout that is hinged to the overcap. The spout snaps shut inside the overcap when in a fully closed position and snaps into a fully open position as well. The spout accommodates a metered dose of product. In the fully open position, the spout seals the opening in the overcap to prevent product from exiting the container while a metered dose is dispensed from the open spout. The container assembly is particularly useful for containing and providing metered dispenses of dry products such as powders and granulated materials.
