A multi-axis acceleration sensor comprises a frame, a central mass disposed within the frame, and a plurality of transducers mechanically coupled between the frame and the central mass. At least a first set of the transducers are arranged between the frame and the central mass in a manner configured to measure translational and rotational motion with respect to a first predefined axis.

Multi-axis, single mass accelerometer

A multi-axis, single mass acceleration sensor includes a three-dimensional frame, a test mass, a plurality of transducers, and a plurality of struts. The test mass may have three principal axes disposed within and spaced apart from the frame. The transducers are mechanically coupled to the frame. The struts are configured to couple to the central mass at each of the three principal axes, respectively, and to couple with respective sets of the transducers, thereby suspending the test mass within the frame. The sensor is thus responsive to translational motion in multiple independent directions and to rotational motion about multiple independent axes.

A seismic sensor comprises a central mass having three principal axes and disposed within a frame. A plurality of transducers is mechanically coupled between the frame and the central mass. The transducers are arranged in pairs, with the transducers in each pair being coupled to opposing sides of the central mass, as defined along each of the three principal axes. Electronics can be provided to combine signals of the transducers in each pair to generate output characterizing acceleration and rotation of the frame.

Multi-Axis, single mass accelerometer

Embodiments of an apparatus for direct coupling of a capacitive sensor to a delta-sigma converter are described. One apparatus includes a sensor, a charge coupling circuit configured to transfer at least a portion of charge generated by the sensor to an integrating circuit, a first charge feedback circuit configured to feed back charge to the sensor, a second charge feedback circuit configured to feed back charge to the integrating circuit, a comparing circuit configured to detect accumulated charge at the integrating circuit for a current cycle to determine a polarity of charge feedback for a subsequent cycle, and a logic circuit configured to provide a digital output corresponding to the sensed quantity and also configured to provide the polarity of charge feedback determined by the comparing circuit to the first charge feedback circuit and also to the second charge feedback circuit.

Direct coupling of a capacitive sensor to a delta-sigma converter

The invention describes a sensor array with digital signals transmitted over an optical fiber for seismic exploration systems. The seismic system includes a transducer for providing digital optical data signals and an optical interrogator for collecting the digital data. The transducer provides data from seismic sensors to the optical interrogator by acting on an optical carrier transmitted along the optical fiber. The system is designed to utilize known electromechanical seismic sensors with fiber optic telemetry.

Digital optical signal transmission in a seismic sensor array

A system for remotely controlling, acquiring and monitoring the acquisition of seismic data. The system includes remote equipment for collecting seismic data and for transmitting and receiving communication signals to and from a remote location. The system also includes local equipment for transmitting and receiving communication signals to and from the remote location. In this manner, the collection of seismic data at remote locations can be controlled and monitored locally.

Seismic telemetry system

A seismic data acquisition system includes a connector housing and a mating electrical circuitry module. A single interface couples electrical circuitry housed in the electrical circuitry module to one or more signal data carriers that are consolidated at a single location in the connector housing. Preferably, the connector housing and electrical circuitry module each have a substantially contaminant-free interior regardless of whether these two parts are mated. An alternate connector housing has two plug casings, each of which are provided with a plug. A complementary alternate electrical circuitry module includes two receptacles complementary to the plugs and an interior space for holding the electrical circuitry. A locking pin disposed within the plug casing selectively engages the electrical circuitry module. A method for establishing communication between electrical circuitry and the carriers and external devices includes providing a single communication interface between the carrier and the electrical circuitry.

Apparatus and method for seismic data acquisition

A sensor apparatus () includes a plural different spatial direction axis of sensitivity positioned sensor package containing sensor module () supported by a planar surface () within a cavity () of a housing () coupled to a first end cap () by a PC-board connection (). Housing () is further coupled to first end cap () by a first coupling member () and a second coupling member () and is also coupled to an opposite second end cap () by a third coupling member () and a fourth coupling member (). Integrated and multi-axis sensor assembly and packaging

Method for operating and testing a sensor assembly (). The sensor assembly () preferably includes accelerometers with axes of sensitivity orthogonal to each other. The method preferably includes determining sensor tilt angle, determining the position of the sensor, and synchronizing the operation of the sensor.

The present invention provides a method and apparatus of acquiring and processing seismic data. One or more controllers are each coupled to seismic sensors and to each other to form a line of data acquisition units. A main controller is coupled to a crossover line unit and to a power supply. Power and data control is distributed among the main controller, the crossover line unit, and each of the plurality of data acquisition units.
