A cooking engagement system for a cooktop appliance is provided herein. The cooking engagement system may include a camera assembly, an image monitor, a lighting assembly, and a controller. The camera assembly may be mounted above the cooktop appliance along a vertical direction and directed at a cooktop surface. The image monitor may be mounted above the cooktop appliance and directed away from the cooktop surface. The lighting assembly may be mounted to the casing above the cooktop appliance. The lighting assembly may include a light source directed at the cooktop source to emit a light thereto. The controller may be in operable communication with the camera assembly and the image monitor to initiate an interactive cooking operation.

Cooking engagement system

A system is provided for supplementing the power usage of an appliance with an internal power source, such as e.g., a battery, in order to limit the overall power consumption of the appliance while in standby mode. The system can allow for replenishing the internal power source when the appliance is not in standby mode or even when in standby mode if such will not exceed the external power source consumption limit. In the event the internal power source is not available or is reaching depletion, the system can provide for disabling electronic features of the appliance in order to maintain the external power source consumption below the desired limit.

A cooking platform includes at least one surface heating element having a first power consumption level and an oven located under the surface heating element. The oven includes a first heating element having a second power consumption level and a second heating element having a third power consumption level. The second heating element has at least two heating sub-elements. One of the two heating sub-elements is configured to be deenergized when a sum of the first, second, and third power consumption levels exceeds a power consumption limit of the cooking platform.
