The subject invention relates to a method of molding an automotive front lamp assembly that prevents the formation of a sink on the reflector by cutting an area into an injection molding tool so that when the reflector is molded, a glare prevention feature is formed in approximately the same location as the sink would have been formed.

Glare prevention feature

The subject invention comprises an adaptive front lighting system ('AFS') utilizing at least one light emitting diode ('LED') as a light source and a means for moving the LED to achieve AFS functionality. An exemplary embodiment of the subject invention comprises a plurality of LEDs positioned and located on a LED carrier. The LED carrier is mechanically connected to at least one actuator that causes the LED carrier and LEDs to move. A controller is used to cause the actuator to move the LEDs. In this manner, this exemplary embodiment adjusts the light beam and creates the desired light beam pattern. Other exemplary embodiments of the subject invention pivotally connect the LEDs to the lens and to each other and utilize the actuator and controller to adjust the light beam. Another exemplary embodiment positions the LEDs in a spherical surface and connects them to the actuator by an extension in order to adjust the light beam.

AFS for LED headlamp

An automotive lighting assembly cooling system includes a heat pipe with an evaporation area proximate to a heat generating component, such as a Light Emitting Diode (LED), and a condensing area located remote from the evaporation area. Evaporation of fluid within the heat pipe transfers heat away from the heat generating component. The efficiency of the cooling system in one embodiment is increased by including fins associated with the condensing area and placing the fins in an area where air flow external to a moving vehicle assists in cooling the fins.

Automotive lighting assembly cooling system

A dual-filament reflective infrared bulb has high and low beam filaments in spaced adjacency along a longitudinal bulb axis. A longitudinal envelope structure encloses each filament in a separate substantially ellipsoidal chamber. The outer surface of the envelope structure is coated with dichroic layers and provides focused reflectance of infrared radiation back onto the filaments. The common ground lead of the assembly passes through one of the chambers substantially off of the longitudinal axis and thereby off of the focal axis of the infrared radiation. A lead emanates out of one longitudinal end of the envelope structure and is formed to return in spaced adjacency toward the opposite longitudinal end. A bulb shield is fastened to the return portion of the lead and intermediate one of the chambers and the leads.

Optically-coated dual-filament bulb for single compartment headlamp

A sealed beam headlamp that includes a collar bonded to an annular flange formed on the rear of a reflector and having an opening with a cylindrical support surface for receiving a plug-type lamp bulb assembly formed with a spherical portion that allows the lamp bulb assembly to be moved as a unit axially and pivoted for adjusting the position of the filament of the lamp bulb assembly relative to the reflector of the headlamp.

Sealed beam headlamp

A headlamp assembly having a colorless lens which is positioned flush with the adjacent panels at the front end of a motor vehicle and which includes horizontal louvre and vertical slat means located within the body of the headlamp that art of the same color as the adjacent panels and are positioned and spaced therein so that the lens appears to be the same color as the adjacent panels.
