An element is deployed within tubing extending to a downhole tool. The downhole tool includes a hydraulic tool and a valve coupled between the conveyance string and the hydraulic tool. The valve includes a valve seat having a passage directing the fluid from the conveyance string to the hydraulic tool. Deploying the element includes landing the element on the valve seat such that the element substantially obstructs flow of the fluid through the valve seat passage. The valve is opened to direct the flow of the fluid around the hydraulic tool, wherein opening the valve utilizes pressure generated in response to the element obstructing the flow of the fluid through the valve seat passage. At least a portion of at least one of the element and the valve seat is then degraded by an amount sufficient to permit the element to pass through the valve seat passage.

A releasable connection for coiled tubing drilling apparatus is presented wherein the connection has an outer body configured with an inner volume, a mandrel located at least partially within the outer body and in the inner volume, a plug located with the outer body and a structural weakpoint apparatus, wherein the structural weakpoint apparatus is configured to structurally fail at a predetermined tensile load placed upon the releasable connection apparatus, wherein the structural weakpoint apparatus is configured at a lower end of the mandrel.

An example instrumented formation tester for injecting fluids and monitoring of fluids described herein includes a downhole tool which can be deployed in a wellbore via a wireline or a drill string. The downhole tool may facilitate the injection of fluids into an underground formation, and the monitoring of the directions in which the injected fluids flow in the formation in an open hole environment. In particular, the downhole tool may be configured for removing the mud cake from a portion of the wellbore wall for facilitating a fluid communication with the formation to be tested.

A backpressure valve. The backpressure valve may be configured to maintain a substantially controlled pressure in bottom hole assembly while simultaneously being compatible with a pressure pulse tool downhole thereof. The backpressure valve includes pressure generating capacity below its internal valve assembly so as to avoid the tendency of the assembly to throttle open and closed. Furthermore, the pressure generation is achieved in a manner avoiding cavitation. As a result, once the backpressure valve is opened, the pressure pulse tool is able to reliably communicate with surface equipment at the oilfield.

The present invention provides a ball seat apparatus for actuating a downhole component. The ball drop apparatus comprises a plurality of ball seat bores and at least one passage extending therethrough.

Downhole tool actuation apparatus and method

A system and method is provided for filtering in a wellbore during various well related operations while limiting the potential for plugging. A well screen is used for filtering particulates from a fluid at a wellbore location. To remove accumulated material and avoid plugging, the well screen may be flexed via pressure differentials created across the well screen. The flexing of the well screen breaks free the accumulated materials, thereby avoiding premature job failure.

An apparatus for use in a wellbore comprises a housing having a longitudinal axis and a mechanism having one or more impact elements adapted to move along the longitudinal axis in an oscillating manner to impart a back and forth force on the housing to vibrate the housing. The at least one impact element is rotatable to oscillate back and forth to impart a vibration force to the housing.

A gravel packing system for re-entry of a screen assembly by a completion tool having an inflate packer as an isolation barrier for minimizing the necessary height of the gravel pack within the casing and thus maximizing the production interval of a well to permit a higher rate of production. The invention assures re-entry of tools to a gravel pack screen assembly for well completion following a gravel pack operation. A guiding and anchoring tool is run through a casing restriction and/or well tubing to a desired position below the restriction and/or tubing and within the casing and is actuated for anchoring. Guide fingers are formed downhole into a tool guiding configuration and the tool is left anchored within the well casing. Subsequently, a well completion tool is and guided into and latched within the guiding and anchoring tool and the inflate packer is set to enable optimum well production.
