A composition for transforming a chrysotile asbestos-containing material into a non-asbestos material is disclosed, wherein the composition comprises water, at least about 30% by weight of an acid component, at least about 0.1% by weight of a source of fluoride ions, and a stable foam forming amount of a foaming agent system composed of a non-ionic alkyl polyglycoside alone or with additional non-ionic foaming agents. A method of transforming the asbestos-containing material into a non-asbestos material using the present composition in the form of a foam also disclosed.

Improved sprayable gypsum-based fireproofing composition comprising a lightweight aggregate and a set retarding agent in an amount effective to delay the setting of said composition for at least 24 hours and preferably for at least 72-96 hours without causing the composition to swell or shrink or to cause a salt layer to form on the composition when it is spray-applied. The fireproofing composition can retain fluidity in conventional spray hoses overnight and yet is capable of being injected with a set accelerator, such as aluminum sulfate, on the next day or on a successive day when spray-applied onto a substrate.

Sprayable fireproofing composition

A sprayable fireproofing composition comprising a hydratable cementitious binder, a porous aggregate, a fibrous material, an air-entraining agent and a rheopectic agent selected from granular attapulgite, sepiolite or mixture thereof having a major amount of particulate greater than 40 microns and water content less than 16 percent.

For waterproofing civil engineering structures using flexible, sheet-like waterproofing laminates which can be applied without primer to structures at temperatures of 40.degree. F. and above. Primerless waterproofing laminates having a bituminous layer comprising 29 to 54 weight percent asphalt, 25 to 50 weight percent process oil, and 16 to 35 weight percent thermoplastic block polymer of styrene and butandiene monomers.

Disclosed are methods for waterproofing civil engineering structures using flexible, sheet-like waterproofing laminates which are applied to structures at temperatures as low as 0.degree. F. Also, disclosed are low-temperature-applicable waterproofing laminates having a bituminous layer comprising 29 to 54 weight percent asphalt, 25 to 50 weight percent process oil, and 16 to 35 weight percent thermoplastic block polymer of styrene and butadiene monomers.

A stable, aqueous dispersion of silica fume is formed using a 70-80% ferrosilicon production fume by-product by the inclusion of very small amounts of a stabilizing agent selected from a phosphoric acid, citric acid, hydrofluoric, fluorosilicic acid or their sodium or potassium salts or mixtures thereof.

A cement admixture and cement composition containing said admixture comprising finely ground rice hull ash formed by slurry grinding of said ash to a volume medium particle diameter or up to 4 micrometers.

Additive, e.g., ethoxylated nonylphenol, for lignin type water-reducing agent in hydraulic cement compositions, reduces air entrainment in the concrete mix.

An inorganic foam formed by initially mixing particulate aluminum with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal base for a time sufficient to at least initially cause the formation of hydrogen gases therefrom, folding the mixture into an aqueous alkali metal silicate solution in a manner to substantially retain concentrated areas of the mixture in the silicate solution for a time sufficient to allow a substantial amount of the theoretical hydrogen gas to form, then thoroughly mixing the materials to form a solid inorganic foam.
