An engine is disclosed having a starter clutch ring gear, and a crank case having an integral starter pinion accepting member defining a through bore, and a gear assembly having an exterior surface configured to engage a flywheel and an surface engaging the second of the shaft. A starter pinion shaft is disposed through the through bore. The integral starter pinion accepting member defines a surface coupled to an engine mount.

Power boost regulator

A system for starting an engine of a vehicle has a fuel injector injecting fuel into a closed intake port to form an air fuel mixture. The system also includes an actuator rotating a crankshaft in a first direction to open the intake port by moving a piston within a cylinder coupled to the crankshaft. A combustion chamber defines between the cylinder and the port receiving the air fuel mixture through the intake port. The actuator rotates the crankshaft in a second direction to close the intake port. A spark plug ignites the air fuel mixture to start the engine. The engine also includes many other disclosed features.

Battery key, starter and improved crank

A two cycle engine having a block defining an exhaust port and a cylinder, a head, and a piston defining a combustion chamber is disclosed. The exhaust port has a resonant frequency that causes a portion of the combusted and uncombusted exhaust gasses to flow from the exhaust system and back into the combustion chamber. At a speed above the predetermined speed, a majority of the portion of the combusted and uncombusted exhaust gasses flows from the exhaust system and back into the combustion chamber without engaging the skirt of the piston.

Snowmobile

A straddle seat type vehicle with a two-cycle internal combustion engine with a crankcase fuel injector. The crankcase fuel injector is mounted through a wall of the crankcase and injects fuel in a jet directed at incoming air entering into the crankcase. The engine may also include a transfer passage fuel injector that injects fuel in a jet directed generally transverse to the direction of airflow through the transfer passage.

Fuel injection system and method for two-cycle engines

A reed valve assembly in certain embodiments of the present teachings may include one or more of the following features: (a) a W shaped reed cage assembly having at least two reed cages, each reed cage having outer air ports and inner air ports wherein the inner air ports face one another, (b) a plurality of reeds that cover the inner and the outer air ports, the reeds secured to the reed cage assembly, and (c) a center splitter secured between the inner air ports of the reed cages, the center splitter having a shape designed to match the deflected shape of the inner reeds when the inner reeds open.
