Disclosed is a curtain wall assembly used for building exteriors. The curtain wall system includes a first vertical mullion operable to attach to a first sill member and a second vertical mullion operable to interlock with the first vertical mullion. A mullion cap may be attached to a bottom surface of at least one of the vertical mullions. The mullion cap includes a substantially planar bottom plate having an upper surface, a lower surface, a front edge, and a back edge. The mullion cap further includes an attachment face located on the upper surface of the substantially planar bottom plate. The attachment face is operable to attach to the vertical mullion.

Building curtain wall mullion and sill assembly

A method of and apparatus for curtain wall assembly utilizing a sill subassembly which is adapted for direct structural interconnection with oppositely disposed portions of vertical mullions. The oppositely disposed mullions and underlying sill subassembly are configured for direct mounting upon a pre-installed flashing secured to a structural mounting surface of a building. In this manner, threaded fasteners may be utilized to directly interconnect the vertical mullion to the sill subassembly and the mounting of panels, such as glass, to the sill subassembly is facilitated.

Mullion connection system

An improved building curtain wall, including improved apparatus and methods for assembling and anchoring curtain walls, are disclosed. The curtain wall, apparatus, and methods each utilize a structural member having a first section for supporting a panel member, and a second section for securing to a fixed structure. The second section has a base and a first hole formed through the base. The curtain wall, apparatus, and methods also each utilize an anchor member, received within the second section, and having a second hole formed therethrough. The present invention eliminates labor intensive and error prone steps in the installation of a curtain wall; reduces the material costs of the curtain wall; and allows the current wall to be used in high stress applications such as hurricane force winds.

Building curtain wall

An apparatus for increasing the ability of a 'double-door' door assembly to withstand stresses caused by high winds and flying debris associated therewith. The door assembly includes first and second doors. The first door has a first pivot stile for pivotally coupling with the first door jamb, and a first meeting stile. The second door has a second pivot stile for pivotally coupling with the second door jamb, and a second meeting stile. The first meeting stile has a greater depth, measured in a plane normal to the plane of the first door, than the remainder of the first door. Similarly, the second meeting stile has a greater depth, measured in a plane normal to the plane of the second door, than the remainder of the second door.

Door assembly

A threshold system for a door incorporating a seal and a threshold plate. The seal mounts to the door and has a flap extending therebeneath. The threshold plate has a raised inner section connected to a recessed outer section by an upstanding lip. The threshold plate disposed below the door so that the flap of the seal contacts with the upstanding lip of the threshold plate, thereby creating a seal between an outside area and an inside area. An outer deflector is mounted on the door body to deflect air and moisture away from the threshold plate and seal.

Threshold system

An angulated door assembly affording reduced entry and exit time and motion therethrough. Each door is angulated relative to the adjacent walls and/or the conventional path of ingress/egress therethrough. Such an assembly configuration affords increased sealing capacity as well as convenience for the user. The door opens and closes faster by swinging less than a conventional door, which presents itself orthogonally to the path of ingress/egress. By utilizing a pair of angulated doorways, the doors self-seal against each other while providing the advantages of angulated disposition relative to the path of ingress/egress.

Entrance system

An improved panel mounting system for curtain wall construction of the type comprising a plurality of transparent and non-transparent panels secured to structural millions and disposed adjacent each other wherein the panels are constructed with an outer hollow region integrally formed with structural interconnection means.

Wall panel system

An improved mullion for a building system. The mullion has a plurality of peripheral wall and web sections defining a load bearing structure adapted for supporting the panel in sealed engagement therewith. The mullion is roll formed from thin gauged metal and further includes an integrally formed, hollow body section having portions defining a glazing pocket therein. Structural members are adapted to be disposed within the mullion body for the engagement and structural integrity thereof. The structural members are secured to the mullion body for maintaining the hollow mullion profile under loading conditions.

Rolled metal building system

A building system integrating the combination of aluminum and steel structural elements for the efficient assembly of stone and glass panels in a curtain wall system which is conspicuous for its lack of a grid appearance. A plurality of discrete steel clips are utilized for securing stone panels to supporting mullions. A plurality of aluminum members are secured to structural mullions whereby glass may be mounted thereto. The stone and glass panels are sealably secured adjacent one another while a glazing adapter is constructed for assembly over the structural mullions there behind. A splice facilitates mating engagement of the aluminum mullions to permit relative movement therebetween. In this manner, both steel and aluminum may be utilized most efficiently for the assembly of stone and glass panels in a curtain wall system with improved structural and aesthetic qualities.

Panel and glass curtain wall system

A dynamic eave building system comprising a flexible joint for first vertical and second angulated structural members pivotally connected one to the other. The adjacent ends of the first and second structural members are mitered into a mating configuration and spaced one from the other by the pivot joint. The pivot joint comprises a pivot pin received through aligned apertures formed in one of the members and in a knee splice secured in the other. The knee splice is positioned to define the flexing space between the mitered ends. The second angulated member also includes moisture collection troughs formed longitudinally therealong. The first member is provided in a hollow configuration for receiving fluid flow from the troughs of the second angulated member. Both members are adapted for securement of conventional curtain wall material, siding or roofing thereon. In this manner, loads on the second angulated member is transferred directly to the first vertical member through the pivot joint and any flexing therein is accommodated by the space between mitered edges.

Flexible joint building system

A curtain wall drainage system for horizontal mullions comprising a flexible, conforming flap member disposed in flush engagement against a weep hole formed in the mullion. The flap permits egress of water infiltrated therein while preventing infusion of water or air turbulence within the mullion from wind loading against the curtain wall. An upper portion of the flap member secured to the outer weep hole surface for permitting pivotal movement therefrom and the passage of water through the weep hole and beneath the flap member. The flap member is constructed of sufficiently resilient and conforming material to permit the presence of a stream of water beneath the flap member from the weep hole to the lower end portion thereof and the creation of a capillary action therein for urging water contained within the mullion downwardly beneath the flap member for discharge from the curtain wall structure. In this manner, mullions may be drained of infiltrated water under conditions not normally faciltating mullion drainage and while preventing air turbulence within the glazing cavity during periods of wind loading.

Curtain wall valve system

Disclosed is a security astragal for double door assemblies which includes a gear-toothed rod rotatably mounted in the meeting edge of one of the doors, and a rod-engaging blade mounted on the meeting edge of the other door. Both the rod and the blade preferably extend for the full height of the door. When the doors are swung relative to each other, the blade engages the teeth on the rod and rotates the rod sufficiently to enable the blade to move partly or fully past the rod. When the doors are in closed position, the blade and rod are in gear-like interengagement, making it impossible to insert a coat hanger or other jimmying tool between the two doors for manipulating the latch mechanism on the inside of the doors.

Security astragal for double door assembly

Disclosed is a wall framing system having vertical and horizontal mullions each formed of an interior piece and an exterior piece connected together by internal plastic clips. Water diverters are mounted internally of the horizontal mullions for diverting intruded water to exit points on the exterior sides of the mullions. At the crossings of vertical and horizontal mullions, internal water diverter bridge pieces connect through the vertical mullions from the water diverter in one horizontal mullion to the water diverter in the other. The vertical mullion faces each have a height substantially equal to a coextensive with the panels they grip to facilitate glazing and reglazing. A special open channel horizontal mullion with joint forming flanges therein is disclosed, together with a novel snap lock cover system therefor. Installation of the wall system is facilitated by deep glazing pocket vertical jambs, the two piece vertical mullions, and assymetrical glazing gaskets.

Wall framing system and components thereof

There is provided an improved wall construction including a vertical mullion and a horizontal member. The horizontal member is provided with longitudinally extending screw splines. The members may be assembled in the known shear block method, or in a known screw spline system, or further in accordance with the present invention the members may be assembled in accordance with an improved shear pin system. The shear pin system employs a shear pin which joins the horizontal member to the vertical mullions. The vertical mullion is prepared for the attachment of a horizontal member by forming holes to receive the head of a shear pin, and the horizontal member is prepared by the insertion of the shear pins into screw splines formed in the horizontal member. The horizontal member is then installed on the vertical by installing the head of the shear pin into the hole previously drilled in the vertical mullion, and then tapping the horizontal downward until the shear pins bottom in the holes.
