A medical monitoring device for analysis of a set of physiologic and laboratory data and for providing a real time or near real time correlation metric for a distress condition is described herein. The medical monitoring device can include a memory storage that comprises a first set of definitions of rise and fall patterns of said physiologic and laboratory data, each of the rise and fall patterns being indicative of a physiological occurrence, a second set of definitions of time series matrix patterns of said rise and fall patterns, the time series matrix patterns being indicative of a distress condition, and a pre-determined correlation metric for each of at least a portion of the time series matrix patterns with reference to the distress condition. The medical monitoring device can also include a monitor to identify the time series matrix patterns in data in memory storage.

Real-time time series matrix pathophysiologic pattern processor and quality assessment method

A neutral pressure split-septum luer access device is described for receiving a luer lock connector. The septum has a plurality of elastomeric columns projecting laterally within a chamber. Each elastomeric column is under sufficient compression so that the columns are bowed and the column strength is reduced by bowing, but the slit sealing force is high. This configuration places the lower portion of the slit in a tightly sealed configuration which is never-the-less receptive to penetration by the male luer which causes the columns to bow further and collapse precipitously with the elastomeric force of the collapsing mass of the columns being carried distally to displace and pop open the central slit distal the tip of the male luer. The septum further provides a transverse separation between the columns and a distal sealing portion so the force of the displacement force to the sealing portion is reduced.

A medical monitoring system for identifying an end-exhalation carbon dioxide value of enhanced clinical utility is described herein. The medical monitoring system can include a capnometer for generating an output corresponding to a time-series of exhaled carbon dioxide values from a patient during an exhalation and a processor programmed to analyze the exhalation. In some examples, the processor can also be programmed to identify a peak carbon dioxide value at an end of the exhalation, determine if the peak carbon dioxide value may have been higher if the exhalation had been prolonged, and provide an output responsive to said determination.

Monitoring system for identifying an end-exhalation carbon dioxide value of enhanced clinical utility

A patient monitoring system is disclosed comprising at least one processor programmed to process medical data derived from a patient or medical records repository and to compose interconnected cascades of sepsis by linking or grouping four fundamental elements which comprise; a perturbation, at least one perturbation force which is capable of inducing and may have induced the perturbation, a recovery, and at least one recovery force which is capable of inducing and may have induced the perturbation. The four elements are linked or grouped by the processor to generate a quaternary which may be characterized as solved or unsolved.

System and method for generating quaternary images of biologic force propagation and recovery

A patient monitoring system detects perturbations and detects or determines features of the perturbations and generates image cells responsive to the perturbations, organelles within the cells responsive to the features, and clinical regions responsive to the cells, and visualizations responsive to the clinical regions. The system also generates time-lapsable motion images comprising the cells which change over time in response to changes in the features or the detection of new perturbations. The system may convert the features into quanta defined at least in part by the clinical condition and may generate image components, such as pixels or groups of pixels, responsive to the quanta. Motion images may be generated from the image components.

Graphically presenting features of rise or fall perturbations of sequential values of five or more clinical tests

A system for automatically detecting and displaying sepsis images in a hospital system is described herein. In some examples, the system can include receiving data related to a plurality of physiological parameters from a patient over time, and identifying and organizing patterns of perturbations of the data. The system can also include analyzing the perturbations to identify known relational physiologic patterns and detecting a pattern of sepsis, the pattern being comprised of a plurality of perturbations and/or relational physiologic patterns. Furthermore, the system can include organizing and synthesizing the plurality of relational physiologic patterns into a set of sepsis images, which as an aggregate whole make up an image representation of the complex and dynamic state of sepsis, and displaying the sepsis images. The images can be color motion images of cascades which display the severities of individual perturbations and relational physiologic patterns along the cascade pattern.

Method for automatically detecting sepsis and displaying dynamic sepsis images in a hospital room

A processor-based system for analyzing physiologic data and medical care is provided wherein the patient data is analyzed to construct images that are representative of a patient's condition. The processor provides a self-modulating analysis, which is responsive to the occurrence of additional data items to increase the information contained in the images. Identifications of modes of physiologic failure by the analysis of the generated images provides for earlier recognition and intervention and improved protocolization of testing and treatment.

Patient safety processor

A patient safety search engine and alarm processor is programmed to repetitively search the electronic medical records of all patients in a hospital system to automatically provide early detection of patients with evolving pathophysiologic cascades, and in particular the cascades of evolving death, such as cascades of septic shock. The search engine also searches for a wide range of evolving pathophysiologic failures which are commonly fatal if detected too late. An alarm processor is provided which is programmed to provide an alarm upon the detection of a cascade or failure. The processor is further be programmed to provide an image of the cascade, and to determine, the severity of the cascade, and the time of onset of the cascade in relation to the timing and type of procedures and treatment and the increased cost associated with the cascade. Discretionary real-time system-wide searches for a wide range of clinical failure patterns or images within the hospital system may be performed using the disclosed patient safety search engine.

Medical failure pattern search engine

A patient monitoring system is described herein. In one example, the patient monitoring system comprises at least one processor programmed to generate an image which displays a patient condition as color weather radar on a map. In some examples, at least one monitored condition is positioned on the map so that the weather image expands, develops or moves over the condition.

Patient storm tracker and visualization processor

A system for converting biologic particle density data into a motion image of at least one clinical condition such as sepsis, wherein the system comprises a processor programmed to detect a plurality of perturbations of the biologic particle densities associated with the clinical condition, detect or determine features of the perturbations, and detect or determine patterns of the perturbations. The processor can also be programmed to generate an image of the clinical condition comprised of time image components comprising a two dimensional user-facing map, wherein time extends along an axis away from the user facing map such that the map may be scrolled forward or backward over time to view different two dimensional images of the clinical condition.
