A manifold for a heat exchanger comprising a tank, a plurality of tubes arranged to receive fluid therein, a plurality of fins for interspacing the tubes, the fins extending along the length of the tubes to thereby define a core section, wherein the header section is formed with multi-point brazing interfaces for securing said header and said core section during a brazing process. One embodiment provides at least one doubled wall area in close proximity to the tube slot areas to form a structure of increased strength, permitting the material to be reduced in relative thickness. The manifold may be formed from flat sheet stock by extended side walls of the header portion joined by a separate cap to close a top portion of the manifold assembly for the purpose of collecting fluid to and from the tubes and said at least one inlet and outlet. For a plastic manifold, the header section is formed with an inner wall defining an extended tube slot area of a header well to receive the plastic tank foot portion thereby increasing the strength of the structure.

Heat exchanger header assembly

A sideplate for a heat exchanger has a double-folded flange on both sides of an elongate web portion. The sideplate has braze cladding on one side only, to prevent discoloration problems during brazing.

Heat exchangers

A heat exchanger in which a header and tank construction comprises separate header and tank portions which are used in combination to form a heat exchanger unit. End caps for the header and tank construction and baffles to form partitions or chambers within the header and tank construction are inserted in grooves formed in the separate header and/or tank portion(s). The heat exchanger assembly comprises spaced combined header and tank constructions between which extend a plurality of tubes which are inserted in slots in the header portions. An area of the header portion can have a plurality of center portions and slots between adjacent center portions for the tubular elements. The apexes of each center portion between the tubular element slots have a flattened area and there are side portions running downward from the center portion apex flats which also are substantially flattened.

Heat exchanger assembly I

The invention involves a heat exchanger in which manifold constructions which encompass tubular elements of the heat exchanger are formed of two mated manifold portions. Each of the manifold portions have slots which when the portions are mated and joined encompass the tubular elements. End plates are included in the structure by insertion of the end plates into grooves formed in the ends of the separate manifold portions.
