An artificial lift apparatus includes an ESP sub-assembly, shut-in valve (SIV) subassembly, and a pressure sensor, each operatively connected to a common electrical line. The ESP sub-assembly includes a pump and an ESP motor configured to receive electrical current from the common electrical line thereby drive the pump to pump fluids from the intake in an uphole direction through the production tubing string. The SIV sub-assembly includes a sliding sleeve connected to a linear actuator driven by an electric valve motor which receives electrical current from the common electrical line and drives the actuator translate the sliding sleeve to modulate fluid flow. The system is configured such that pressure data from the pressure sensor can be received at the surface via the common electrical line.

Artificial lift apparatus with integrated shut-in valve

Systems and a method for well testing using a tubing hanger deployed apparatus are disclosed. The method includes shutting in a well and connecting a pressure control system and a tool string to an adapted tubing hanger plug; installing the pressure control system, the tool string, and the adapted tubing hanger plug into a borehole; opening the borehole for a fluid flow; measuring a flow rate of the fluid flow through the borehole using a flowmeter; and measuring physical properties of the fluid flow with sensors on the tool string. The method further includes closing a surface safety valve and optionally closing a subsurface safety valve; retrieving the adapted tubing hanger plug and the tool string; and downloading data for analysis of the flow rate and physical properties measured.

Well testing method using tubing hanger deployed apparatus

A method includes shutting in a well and connecting a pressure control system and a tool body to an adapted tubing hanger plug. The pressure control system, tool body, and adapted tubing hanger plug are installed into a borehole, which is then opened for fluid flow. A flow rate of the fluid flow is measured with a spinner. Temperature spikes are generated using a thermal generator, and a time for the temperature spikes to travel from the thermal generator to a temperature probe is measured. A flow rate of the fluid flow is calculated based on the time. Further, physical properties of the fluid flow are measured with sensors disposed within an electronics section of the tool body. Surface and subsurface safety valves are closed, and the adapted tubing hanger plug and the tool body are retrieved from the borehole. Data is downloaded for analysis.

Well testing method using tubing hanger deployed heat tracer flow metering system

A coring tool includes an electronics section that includes a material that is buoyant in a wellbore fluid, a coring section coupled to the electronics section and including a sidewall coring unit operable to penetrate an inner wall of a wellbore and thereby obtain a core sample, and a stabilizer arm assembly operable to laterally extend a stabilizer arm into engagement with the inner wall of the wellbore. A weight section is operatively coupled to the electronics and coring sections and exhibits a weight that overcomes buoyancy forces generated by the buoyant material in the wellbore fluid, and a release mechanism releasably attaches the weight section to the electronics and coring sections. Activating the release mechanism detaches the weight section, and thereby allows the electronics and coring sections to float in the wellbore fluid and ascend the wellbore.

A completion configuration and a method for an electrical submersible pump (ESP) are provided. An exemplary completion configuration includes a dual port packer, a tubing line mounted in a first port of the dual port packer, wherein the tubing line carries fluid from a reservoir to a surface, and a motor head mounted in a second port of the dual port packer, wherein the motor head couples to ESP power terminations that are disposed uphole of the dual port packer.
