Process for olefin polymerisation using group 4 metallocene as catalysts

Process for the preparation of a polypropylene, wherein propylene is polymerized optionally with a comonomer selected from the group consisting of ethylene, a C-C&#x3b1;-olefin and mixtures thereof, in the presence of a catalyst system comprising solid catalyst particles, wherein the solid catalyst particles (a) comprise a transition metal compound of formula (I) LRMX(I) wherein 'M' is a transition metal of anyone of the groups 3 to 10 of the periodic table (IUPAC), each 'X' is independently a monovalent anionic &#x3c3;-ligand, each &#x201c;L&#x201d; is independently an organic ligand which coordinates to the transition metal (M), each &#x201c;R&#x201d; is a bridging group linking two organic ligands (L), &#x201c;m&#x201d; is 2 or 3, preferably 2, &#x201c;n&#x201d; is 0, 1 or 2, preferably 1, &#x201c;q&#x201d; is 1, 2 or 3, preferably 2, m+q is equal to the valency of the transition metal (M), (c) comprise a cocatalyst (Co) comprising an element (E) of group 13 of the periodic table (IUPAC), preferably a cocatalyst (Co) comprising a compound of A1, wherein further the loss of activity of the solid catalyst particles during polymerization is at most 20%.

Preparation of polypropylene in the presence of a single-site catalyst

A polypropylene homopolymer with a melting point of less than 147&#xb0; C., a percentage of 2.1 errors of at least 1% and a xylene soluble fraction of less than 0.5 wt %.

The present application provides a process for polymerizing at least one olefin in the presence of a polymerization catalyst, including: (A) continuously introducing a first liquid with a transition metal compound, an organometallic compound, and a solvent and a second liquid into an emulsification stage, (B) continuously withdrawing the emulsion and directing it into a solidification stage to form a slurry with a solid polymerization catalyst component, (C) continuously recovering the solid polymerization catalyst component, (D) directing the solid polymerization catalyst component into a first prepolymerization stage with a monomer and a second liquid to form a slurry, (E) recovering a prepolymerized solid polymerization catalyst component, (F) continuously introducing the prepolymerized solid polymerization catalyst component into a second prepolymerization stage with an olefin monomer to form a prepolymerized catalyst, and (G) continuously withdrawing the prepolymerized catalyst and directing it into a subsequent polymerization stage with at least one olefin monomer.

Process for olefin polymerization

The present invention relates to a capacitor film comprising a biaxially oriented polypropylene wherein a) said polypropylene has a draw ratio in machine direction of at least 4.0 and a draw ratio in transverse direction of at least 4.0, and b) said polypropylene has an electrical breakdown strength EB63% according to IEC 60243-part 1 (1988) of at least 300 kV/mm at a draw ratio in machine direction and in transverse direction of 4.0.

Electrical insulation film

Certain embodiments of the present technology provide a capacitor film comprising a polypropylene material. The capacitor film comprises xylene solubles of at least 0.5 percent by weight. In certain embodiments the xylene solubles are in a range of 0.5 to 1.5 percent by weight. The film also comprises a crystalline fraction melting in the temperature range of 200&#xb0; C. to 105&#xb0; C. determined by stepwise isothermal segregation technique. The crystalline fraction comprises a part, the part representing at least 10 percent by weight of said crystalline fraction, and wherein the part melts at a melting rate of 10&#xb0; C./min. Certain embodiments present a capacitor film where the part melts at or below 140&#xb0; C. In other embodiments, the said part melts at or below the temperature T=Tm&#x2212;3&#xb0; C., wherein Tm is the melting temperature of the capacitor film and/or the polypropylene material, and the part represents at least 45 percent by weight of the crystalline fraction.
