A display system for a binocular helmet visor having image projectors projecting images on a semi-reflecting internal wall of the visor of the helmet. One image faces the right eye and another image faces the left eye. The shape of the surface of the internal wall of the visor makes it desirable to cross the optical paths of the two projectors at the helmet wearer's forehead in order to limit the deformation of the images. The optical paths of the two projectors are folded with holographic mirrors in a manner which results in a compact structure, reducing the space required for the visor and the overall weight of the helmet.

The disclosure relates to optical devices enabling daytime vision and night vision of an external scene with, in both cases, the superimposed introduction, into an observer's visual field, of an image given by an image generator. The image given by the light intensifier of a night observation system is processed in the same way as the image given by the image generator, by an auxiliary image-combining optical system which mixes these two images before they reach the main image-combining optical system of the device through which, in night vision, the observer directly sees the external scene. The auxiliary image-combining optical system is designed so that, in night vision, at least the greatest part of the light coming from the image generator reaches the main image-combining optical system. Depending on the embodiment, this result is obtained either with a retractable semi-reflecting mirror or with a semi-reflecting surface selective in frequency.

Disclosed is an optic device designed to enable an observer to look simultaneously at what is normally in his visual field and at a collimated image that is introduced so as to be superimposed on his visual field. The optic device has a plate with parallel faces in which the light rays coming from an image generator, through an access point, get propagated by total reflection on the parallel faces. A slab, formed by a stacking of plane mirrors, reconcentrates the light rays and directs them towards two successive, semi-reflecting mirrors which reflect them partially towards the observation pupil. The semi-reflecting mirrors are in the visual field of an observer's eye placed at the observation pupil.
