A video camera for use in a security system may include a processor including control circuitry and a removable memory card coupled to the control circuitry. The removable memory card may include a wireless transceiver configured to receive wireless data transmissions from at least one wireless sensor device. The removable memory card may further include security system logic configured to allow the video camera itself to function as a security system, including identifying and then transmitting one or more security system messages to a remote location via the wireless transceiver of the removable memory card.

For security purposes, a limited profile SIM, card which preferably does not permit voice communications is provided. For example, the card might support only SMS-type communications. During installation, when the SIM card is initially inserted, or installed in a respective product, a smart phone, table or laptop computer for example, the SIM card pairs with, or becomes bonded to, the product. That card cannot be used subsequently with any other gsm-type module. Responsive to the evaluation at the server, the server transmits a request to operator services for a selected network, for example a GSM 3G or 4G cellular-type communications network. This request can include information as to the SIM card, product and end user for the network along with a request that the profile of the SIM card be modified to include any and all services to be provided, such as voice and/or data. The end user information can be stored in a communications system data base.

System and method of preventing unauthorized SIM card usage

A security system including a wireless alarm sensor that detects a threat within a secured geographic area, a cloud application that monitors the alarm sensor and reports threats detected by the alarm sensor within the secured area to a human user of the secured area and a wireless publically accessible communication system defined by a plurality of relatively low power communication devices and a local base station, the alarm sensor detects a nearby one of the plurality of low power communication devices and wirelessly connects to the cloud application through the nearby one low power communication device and local base station.

Alternative inexpensive cloud-based mass market alarm system with alarm monitoring and reporting

A security system is provided. The security system includes a security processor having a plurality of inputs that receive signals from security sensors in a secured area and at least one data output path that couples the received signals from the security sensors to a central monitoring station and a network interface device coupled to the security processor that couples signals between the security processor and central monitoring station through a network connection, said network interface selected from the group consisting of a television set-top box, digital video recorder, DSL modem, fiber-optic modem, VSAT satellite transceiver and personal computer, and said network connection selected from the group consisting of a public or proprietary network connection, an Internet connection, a PSTN connection, and a cable TV distribution system connection.

Method for integrating plug-in security panel module with network interface middleware

A security system control module with a portable housing including a wireless receiver, control circuitry, nonvolatile memory, and a data connector. The receiver receives data transmissions from at least one wireless security device that monitors a condition of a premises in which the wireless security device is installed. The data connector exchanges data between the control circuitry and an external host device, and it also accepts from the external host device primary operating power for operating the wireless receiver, the control circuitry, and the nonvolatile memory. The control circuitry is adapted to process signals in accordance with a preprogrammed configuration file stored in the nonvolatile memory, the signals received via the wireless receiver from a wireless security device, and to communicate with an external computer located remotely from the external host device via the data connector using a first communications protocol.
