A rear-loaded injector cartridge for an intraocular lens (IOL) having a proximal opening that provides a haptic slot. The haptic slot receives a leading haptic of an IOL loaded therein, and temporarily retains the leading haptic while the optic of the IOL is inserted into a holding area of the cartridge. As the optic passes by, the leading haptic folds over the top of the optic, on its anterior side. The length of the haptic retention slot is sufficient to maintain the leading haptic in its anteriorly folded position while the IOL remains in holding area, typically while the cartridge is mated with a handpiece of the injector. The cartridge also has a rear or proximal cut out which advantageously keys with a similarly-sized rail on the handpiece so that the cartridge cannot be inserted in the wrong way.

An intraocular lens with a hydrophilic polymer coating composition and method of preparing same are provided. Specifically, a composition suitable for reducing tackiness in intraocular lenses is provided wherein an acrylic intraocular lens is treated by vapor deposition with an alkoxy silyl terminated polyethylene glycol polymer composition.

Back loaded intraocular lens (IOL) cartridge

A refractive anterior chamber iris fixated intraocular lens including an optic portion having an outer peripheral edge and two or more but preferably two haptic elements. Each haptic element is manufactured to have an inner portion and an outer free end portion for supporting the optic portion in a patient's eye. The inner portion of each haptic element is preferably permanently connected to the outer peripheral edge of the optic portion. Each haptic element also includes a tissue clasp for secure attachment of the intraocular lens to the non-mobile periphery of the iris of an eye.

Iris fixated intraocular lenses

A refractive anterior chamber iris fixated intraocular lens including an optic portion having an outer peripheral edge and two or more but preferably two, three or four balanced haptic elements. Each haptic element is of a relatively narrow arch-like form. Each haptic element is also manufactured to have an inner portion and an outer portion for supporting the optic portion in a patient's eye. The inner portion of each haptic element is permanently connected to the outer peripheral edge of the optic portion. Each haptic element also includes a fixation clamp on the outer portion thereof and a central portion located between the outer portion and the inner portion.

The invention provides an anterior chamber implant for treating a phakic eye having an optical part connected to loops. The loops have an arc-shaped profile with a double radius of curvature. The radius of curvature of the proximal portion being greater than that of the distal portion.

An intraocular lens including an optic portion having an outer peripheral edge and two, three or four balanced looped haptic elements for use to achieve refractive correction. Each looped haptic is formed to have greater resistance to bending in a plane generally parallel to an eye's optical axis than in a plane generally perpendicular to the eye's optical axis. The intraocular lens is designed with specific flexibility characteristics so as to exhibit less than approximately 1.0 mm axial displacement of the optic portion along the eye's optical axis under a compression force suitable to effect a 1.0 mm in diameter compression of the intraocular lens.

The intraocular lens is so designed to exhibit less than approximately 1.0 mm axial displacement of the optic portion along the eye's optical axis under a compression force suitable to effect a 1.0 mm in diameter compression of the intraocular lens. Intraocular lenses with improved axial stability

A refractive intraocular lens including an optic portion having an outer peripheral edge and two or more but preferably two balanced opposed looped haptic elements. Each looped haptic element is formed to have two broad connecting portions, two radial orientation portions, two spring portions and a linking portion for supporting the optic portion in a patient's eye. The two broad connecting portions of each looped haptic element is permanently connected to the outer peripheral edge of the optic portion. Each looped haptic element is likewise formed to have greater resistance to bending in a plane generally parallel to an eye's optical axis than in a plane generally perpendicular to the eye's optical axis. The intraocular lens is so designed to exhibit less than approximately 1.0 mm axial displacement or tilting of the optic portion along the eye's optical axis under a compression force suitable to effect a 1.0 mm in diameter compression in overall length of the intraocular lens.
