The general field of the invention is that of airbags. The invention relates to a process for improving the tear strength and the combing strength of coated fabrics intended for uses in the field of inflatable bags, using a silicone composition comprising an additive consisting of a polyorganosiloxane resin (V) and a calcium carbonate. After coating the composition onto the fabric supports and curing, the coated supports not only have optimum adhesion and crease resistance properties, but also have good properties in terms of combing strength and tear strength.

Silicone composition and process that is useful for improving the tear strength and the combing strength of an inflatable bag for protecting an occupant of a vehicle

The general field of the invention is that of airbags. The invention relates to a process for improving the tear strength and the combing strength of coated fabrics intended for uses in the field of inflatable bags using a silicone composition comprising an additive containing a polyorganosiloxane resin (V) and a calcium carbonate. After coating the composition onto the fabric supports and curing, the coated supports not only have optimum adhesion and crease resistance properties, but also have good properties in terms of combing strength and tear strength.

The present invention relates to a cross-linkable adhesive silicone composition, having a very short cross-linking time and capable of providing an adhesive having mechanical properties sufficient so that it can be used as an adhesive joint and provide waterproofing of a seam joining two substrates. Such a composition comprises: (A) at least a polyorganosiloxane (POSA) having, for each molecule, at least two alkenyl groups, preferably, C2-C6 linked to silicon; (B) at least one polyorganosiloxane cross-linking agent having, for each molecule, at least two hydrogen atoms linked to silicon; (C) a catalytically efficient amount of at least one catalyst containing at least one metallic compound, preferably platinum; (D) a reinforcing mineral filler; and is characterized in that it also comprises at least one polyorganosiloxane (POS A') gum having a weight content of alkenyl(s) group(s), preferably vinyl(s), between 0.001% and 0.2%, and having a consistency of between 300 and 1200 at 25&#xb0; C.

Adhesive silicone compositions and adhesive bonding/seaming therewith

The invention relates to a process for the adhesive bonding of fibrous supports using a silicone elastomer which is thermosetted by radical crosslinking using at least one peroxide. The silicone elastomer is inserted between the supports over at least a portion of the region of overlap of the supports, where the supports are held in contact in the region of overlap in an manner that prevents trapping of air at the interface between the supports. The supports containing the silicone elastomer are heated while in intimate contact to allow the adhesive bonding of the supports by crosslinking of the adhesive.

Method for bonding fibrous silicone-coated supports

Silicone compositions, particularly for the production of anti-fouling varnishes which may be applied to flexible or bulk supports to provide an anti-fouling silicone varnish for textiles coated with elastomeric silicones which is economical, adhesive, low-slip and glossy; these are crosslinked silicone compositions comprising: A. at least one alkenylsilane, B. at least one catalytic system which comprises: B/1 at least one organometallic condensation catalyst, B/2 at least one metal M chelate and/or one metal alkoxide of general formula M(OJ), wherein n=valence of M and J=linear or branched C-Calkyl radical, M being selected from among: Ti, Zr, Ge and Al, C. at least one ultrafine filler, D. optionally, at least one arylsilane other than A. E. optionally, at least one other silane other than A. and other than D., F. optionally, at least one thickening agent and G. optionally, at least one functional additive.

Anti-soil silicone varnish compositions and support substrates treated therewith

An aqueous polyorganosiloxane (POS) emulsion which can easily be deposited on/applied to a fibrous substrate at high speed and at limited deposition rates, for example less than 40 g/m. The emulsion contains (A) a POS with &#x2261;Si-vinyl units, (B) a POS with &#x2261;SiH units, (C) an adhesion promoter, (D) a catalyst, (E) at least one surfactant, (F) optionally a POS resin with &#x2261;Si-vinyl units, (G) optionally a crosslinking inhibitor, (H) optionally a pH fixing agent, (I) optionally a formulating additive, (J) optionally a filler, and (K) water. Adhesion promoter (C) is selected from protective hydrocolloids, hydroxylated silanes and/or POS carrying at least one hydroxyl group and at least one salified amino group per molecule, and mixtures thereof, and is present in the range from 0.005 to 10% by weight, based on the silicone phase. Also disclosed is the corresponding coating process and the coated substrate.

Aqueous silicone emulsion for coating woven or non-woven fibrous substrates

Silicone compositions particularly useful for the production of anti-fouling varnishes for application to support substrates, these providing an anti-fouling varnish for textiles covered with silicone elastomers which is economical, adhesive, non-slip and glossy; the subject varnishes comprise a crosslinkable silicone composition containing, per 100 parts by weight: 1, at least 80 parts by weight of: (1.1), 2., 0.1 to 10 parts of weight of: (1.2), 3., 0 to 10 parts by weight of at least one polydimethylisiloxane (PDMS) acrylate or epoxide, 4., 0 to 10 parts by weight of at least one silylated compound which includes at least one ultrafine filler, 7., 0 to 10 parts by weight of at least one thickener, and 8., 0 to 10 parts by weigh of at least one additional functional additive.

Anti-fouling cationically crosslinkable varnish compositions and support substrates coated therewith

A process for increasing the surface tension ('wettability') of a silicone element crosslinked by polyaddition from a liquid composition containing one or more &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-dimethylvinylpolydimethylsiloxanes (PDMS), one or more poly(dimethyl)(methylhydrogenosiloxy)-&#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-dimethylhydrogenosiloxanes, and a platinum crosslinking catalyst. The silicone surface is treated with a homogeneous atmospheric plasma using a plasma spraying apparatus having a rotating head with one or more plasma nozzles that are offset relative to the axis of rotation, each one being capable of generating a plasma jet whose axis is parallel to said axis of rotation. The articles to which the invention relate include composites of flexible substrate (e.g. textile)/silicone coating. Application: adhesive bonding of silicone surfaces crosslinked by &#x2261;Si&#x2014;H/&#x2261;Si-vinyl polyaddition.

Process for the surface treatment of an article containing silicone crosslinked by polyaddition

A silicone composition useful especially for the production of varnishes applicable to substrates whose coefficient of friction it is sought to reduce. The object is to provide an anti-friction silicone varnish for textiles coated with silicone elastomers which is economic and adhesive, provides the desired slip, resists soiling and is shiny. This object is achieved by a crosslinkable silicone composition containing two silicones A and B which react with one another in the presence of a catalyst C to allow crosslinking, and a particulate component D selected from the group comprising powdered (co)polyamides&#x2014;preferably (co)polyamides 6, 12 and 6/12. The (co)polyamide particles are of substantially rounded shape and the mean particle diameter &#x3a6;is between 0.1 and 200 &#x3bc;m, preferably between 5 and 100 &#x3bc;m and particularly preferably between 10 and 50 &#x3bc;m. Also disclosed is a varnishing process and a composite containing the varnished substrate.

The invention concerns a coating composition capable of being cold vulcanised (EVF), characterised in that it comprises, in a mixture: (1) at least one polyorganosiloxane having, per molecule, at least two C -C alkenyl groups bound to silicon; (2) at least one polyorganosiloxane having, per molecule, at least two hydrogen atoms bound to silicon; (3) a catalytically effective amount of at least one catalyst, consisting of at least one metal belonging to the platinum group; (4) an adherence promoter; (5) optionally a reinforcing system which can be at least a polyorganosiloxane resin and/or a reinforcing filler; (6) optionally at least one cross-linkage inhibitor; (7) and mineral or organic hollow microspheres.
