The invention relates to a neural tissue unit for use in implantation into the nervous system of a human or non-human mammal, wherein said neural tissue unit contains differentiated post-mitotic neuronal cells in an extracellular matrix, said unit being obtained from a cellular microcompartment comprising a hydrogel capsule surrounding the neural tissue unit, and said hydrogel capsule being at least partially removed before use of the neural tissue unit. The invention also relates to a process for preparing such a neural tissue unit.

The invention relates to a cellular microcompartment comprising successively, organized around a lumen, at least one layer of pluripotent cells, an extracellular matrix layer and an outer hydrogel layer. The invention also relates to processes for preparing such cellular microcompartments.

Method and system for optical detection of nano-objects in a refracting medium. A nano-object (n_o) and the refractive medium are illuminated (A) with a periodically amplitude modulated coherent electromagnetic heating wave (HB(&#x3a9;)), to generate a specified temperature and refractive index profile in the vicinity of the nano-object, and with a coherent electromagnetic probe wave (PB) to generate an emerging probe wave (EPB(&#x3a9;)) having at least one intensity component amplitude modulated by a beat at the modulation frequency of the coherent heating wave. The intensity component amplitude modulated by a beat is detected (C) in the emerging wave (EPB(&#x3a9;)), to distinguish and represent this nano-object in the refractive medium. The invention is useful in the detection of nano-objects in an industrial, physiological or intracellular medium.

Method and system for optical detection of nano-objects in a light refracting medium

A method and device for photothermal imaging tiny metal particles which are immersed in a given medium like a living cell deposited onto a transparent glass slide. The given medium and immersed tiny metal particles are illuminated through separate phase reference laser beam and sensitive probe laser beam, with the sensitive probe laser beam including a heating laser beam undergoing through impingement on the given medium slight phase changes induced by photothermal effect due to a local heating, in the absence of any substantial phase changes to the phase reference laser beam. Illuminating is performed by focusing the separate phase reference and sensitive probe laser beam through the transparent glass slide at a given depth within the given medium and a transmitted phase reference laser beam and a transmitted sensitive probe laser beam undergoing the slight phase changes are generated. An image of the given medium at the given depth is formed through the transmitted phase reference and sensitive probe laser beam and the slight phase changes on the transmitted sensitive probe laser beam with reference to the reference phase laser beam are detected so as to allow each of the tiny metal particles to be imaged as an optical label.
