Signal conversion system for sending or receiving a radiofrequency signal

The present invention provides a method and system for transmitting a multi-frequency signal composed of discrete tones of constant envelope parts that are amplified by a bank of fully saturated transmitters operating in their most power efficient mode. After amplification and transmission, the signals are multiplexed in the air as opposed to multiplexing before amplification that allows for more efficient amplification as well. In a preferred embodiment, the system has two or more transmitting antennas, and the method comprises: (a) generating a first signal of a first carrier frequency and a second signal of a second carrier frequency; (b) transmitting the first signal of a first carrier frequency on a first antenna and the first signal of a second carrier signal on a second antenna for a predetermined time period; and (c) transmitting a second signal of the second carrier frequency on said first antenna and a second signal of the first carrier frequency on the second antenna for the predetermined time period. Preferably, the signals are transmitted using an amplifier that is essentially fully saturated.

Fully saturated multi-tone transceiver

The present invention is a system and a method of filtering a signal at a receiver, the signal having at least a desired channel and blockers. A first converter converts a first copy of the signal resulting in a relatively narrow band, high-resolution first signal. A second converter converts a second copy of the signal resulting in a relatively wide band, low-resolution second signal. Once each copy of the signal is converted, the copies are passed to a combiner. At the combiner, the two copies of the signal are analyzed and the desired channel is extracted from the first copy of the signal by removing any inter-modulation product caused by any interference detected in the second copy from the blockers (not detected in the first copy).

An analog to digital converter that first converts an analog input voltage into first and second periodic signals having a phase difference there between that is a function of the analog input voltage and then introduces the first periodic signal into a forward direction data path through a series of consecutive delay cells so that the first periodic signal propagates through the cells via the first series of delay elements in a first direction, and introduces the second periodic signal into a reverse direction data path through the same series of delay cells so that the second periodic signal propagates through the cells via the second series of delay elements in an opposite direction, and using the second periodic signal to latch the first periodic signal in each cell so as to generate an output signal for each cell, said output signals of said cells collectively indicating the unique cell in which the leading edges of corresponding pulses in the first and second directions met, and decoding the outputs of the cells to generate a digital binary output value.

Phase domain analog to digital converter

A novel air-gap-containing interconnect wiring structure is described incorporating a solid low-k dielectric in the via levels, and a composite solid plus air-gap dielectric in the wiring levels. Also provided is a method for forming such an interconnect structure. The method is readily scalable to interconnect structures containing multiple wiring levels, and is compatible with Dual Damascene Back End of the Line (BEOL) processing.

An offset correction analogic circuit capable of compensating the offset of a digital baseband is described. The circuit comprises analog means to receive an output differential signal issued from a differential signal path. The differential signal path may be a baseband filter as used in digital communication systems. The baseband filter inputs an input differential signal having an offset to be compensated. The output differential signal is fed into an analog integrator to generate a pulsed signal either on a first output line or on a second output line according to the polarity of the output differential signal. The pulsed signal is then integrated into a switched capacitor and a differential compensation offset signal is issued. The frequency of the pulsed signal is preferably proportional to the voltage value of the output differential signal. The compensation offset signal may be summed with the input differential signal into a summing circuit.

Fully integrated offset compensation feedback circuit

A low dielectric constant, thermally stable hydrogenated oxidized silicon carbon film which can be used as an interconnect dielectric in IC chips is disclosed. Also disclosed is a method for fabricating a thermally stable hydrogenated oxidized silicon carbon low dielectric constant film utilizing a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition technique. Electronic devices containing insulating layers of thermally stable hydrogenated oxidized silicon carbon low dielectric constant materials that are prepared by the method are further disclosed. To enable the fabrication of thermally stable hydrogenated oxidized silicon carbon low dielectric constant film, specific precursor materials having a ring structure are preferred.

A system for estimating the bandwidth of a baseband filter that produces a phase shift on arriving analog signals is disclosed. The system comprises means for generating a digital reference clock signal and means for converting the digital reference clock signal into an analog reference clock signal to be input to the baseband filter. Phase comparison means are coupled to the baseband filter for comparing the digital reference clock signal to the analog reference clock signal phase shifted through the baseband filter. A digital pulsed signal that is representative of the phase shift is generated, and digital circuit means connected to the phase comparison means convert the digital pulsed signal into a digital value, the digital value being proportional to the phase shift of the baseband filter.
