The present invention relates to the use of thermoplastic starch in the manufacture of an adhesive and ultrathin waterproof-breathable film, said thermoplastic starch being provided in the form of an alloy with hydrophilic TPE comprising at least 10% by weight, preferably at least 20% by weight, preferably at least 30% by weight, preferably at least 40% by weight, preferably at least 50% by weight, of polyethylene glycol (PEG), with regard to the weight of the TPE. This film can be used in a textile product in the medical field, hygiene, luggage, the clothing industry, the garment industry, domestic or household equipment, furniture, fitted carpets, the automobile industry, industry, in particular industrial filtration, agriculture and/or the construction industry.

Use of an alloy of thermoplastic starch and TPE in the manufacture of an adhesive ultrathin waterproof-breathable film

An impervious breathable film made of a composition that does not include polymers having polyether units and includes one or more polymers, at least one of which is an ethylene copolymer. Said impervious breathable film is moreover made of a comonomer, having the function of an acid or one of the derivatives thereof. In said impervious breathable film, the weight of comonomers, having the function of carboxylic acid or a derivative of said acid, is greater than or equal to 21 wt % in said copolymer. Said impervious film moreover relates to a slip additive. The film has a thickness of 2 to 30 &#x3bc;m. Also, an impervious breathable structure, containing a fibrous material and said film, and moreover relates to a method for manufacturing said structure. Said film and said structure are advantageously usable as an impervious breathable material for, for example, construction siding.

Impervious breathable ethylene copolymer film

The invention relates to a multilayered pultruded structure having a weatherable cap layer over a pultruded substrate, adhered with an appropriate tie layer. The structure provides improved weatherability and surface quality for pultruded structures. The invention is especially useful to provide a weatherable pultruded polyurethane, with an acrylic or styrenic cap layer. The weatherable polyurethane (PU) pultrusion of the invention provides an increased modulus over polyester pultrusions, making the weatherable PU pultrusion useful in commercial applications, and applications requiring a higher transverse modulus.

Weatherable first surface over a tie layer over a pultruded substrate

The invention relates to small expanded polymer powder particles, and uses thereof. The expanded powder particles are formed by a non-melt process, resulting in individual expanded particles in the 5 to 100 micron range. The expanded powder particles are especially useful in cosmetic applications, as they provide a softer feel than a powder, and have a much higher surface area, making them highly absorbent for removing liquids and oils, as well as for use as excellent carriers and release agents for active ingredients.

The invention relates to the use of an alloy of thermoplastic starch and a hydrophilic thermoplastic elastomer as an anti-static additive. The additive improves the anti-static properties of a polymer matrix.

Antistatic thermoplastic starch alloys

The invention relates to a breathable multi-layer film with at least one layer containing a breathable resin, such as block copolymers with polyether blocks, and one layer containing a soft polymer (Tg&#x3c;0&#xb0; C.), such as a polyolefin. The film is selectively permeable to water vapor but not permeable to water. The film can be bonded to a woven or non-woven substrate to produce a breathable fabric.

Multi-layer breathable films

The invention relates to the use in a photovoltaic module of a film of a composition as a backsheet or as an encapsulant, this composition comprising, with respect to the total weight of the composition: from 1 to 99% of a polyethylene having an ethylene whose level by weight is greater than or equal to 80% chosen from the homopolymers of ethylene and the copolymers of ethylene and another alpha-olefin; from 99 to 1% of a polyolefin B, other than A, carrying a reactive functional group X chosen from the anhydride carboxylic acids and epoxides. The invention further relates to a photovoltaic module comprising the film of the composition according to the invention and also a process for the manufacture of this module.

Use of a polethylene-based film in a photovoltaic module

The present invention relates to a thermoplastic composition including a polyamide graft polymer including a polyolefin backbone containing a residue of at least one unsaturated monomer having reacted with at least one polyamide graft. The invention also relates to structures, particularly multilayer structures, including said composition. One of the preferred structures of the present invention is a photovoltaic module including said composition. The composition according to the invention can advantageously be used as a binder or encapsulant. It is also used in solar panels and laminated glass.
