Management of files stored on a digital camera includes a user interface for a windowing application for viewing system objects in a first area for displaying a hierarchical tree of system objects, a second area for displaying a thumbnail image corresponding to a system object selected in the first area, a third area adjacent to the second area for displaying a sound icon indicating that a sound file is associated with the displayed thumbnail image, and a fourth area which surrounds the second area and the third area. An item may be dragged to an icon representing a storage device in order to copy the item to the storage device.

System to manage digital camera images

Management of files stored on an image capturing unit such as a digital camera, includes detection of connection of the image capturing unit, reception of plural image data respectively corresponding to plural images stored in the image capturing unit, and storage of the plural received image data in a storage medium. A setting screen is displayed for storage settings, wherein the setting screen includes a first region for inputting a character string for a file name and a second region for setting a number. A file name is assigned to each one of the plural image data, the assigned file name including the inputted character string and a number sequentially assigned to the plural image data, the numbers starting from the number set in the second region. Each such one of the plural received image data is stored in the storage medium with the assigned file name.

A user interface for image acquisition devices that provides common control of common features of different image acquisition devices while retaining the flexibility needed to provide tailored control that take advantage of unique features of each different image acquisition device. The user interface includes a control area for displaying a property sheet. The property sheet has a plurality of property pages, each of which has an interface for image acquisition device control and each of which has a tab describing the control provided by that property page. At least one property page has an interface for core image acquisition device control, and at least one property page has an interface for device-dependent image acquisition device control. The user interface also provides a property sheet with a property page that attractively provides plural interfaces for control in that property page. The property page includes a control region for providing control and a button region having multiple buttons. An appearance of the control region is changed in response to user manipulation of the multiple buttons, with each different appearance providing a different interface for the control.

A system for managing multimedia objects such as text, images, sound, and video clips. The system provides improved organization of multimedia objects, through use of albums organized into collections of albums. In addition, improved printout of multimedia objects through user-activateable selection of particular fields from a multimedia database to accompany printouts of multimedia objects. A user interface is defined for allowing a user to obtain a thumbnail view of images in multimedia objects, simply by sliding a mouse cursor over database entry pointing of the image. In addition, a unique architecture of a system for managing multimedia objects is described.

A computer-implemented system for selecting a color scheme and colorizing a document with the selected color scheme includes displaying a menu of user-selectable objectives which are used to define a color scheme, accessing a computerized color knowledge-base system in accordance with the selected objectives to select the color scheme, and displaying the selected color scheme. Once the color scheme has been selected, the document can be colorized by retrieving the document from a file such as that created by a desktop publishing program, selecting a page of the document image to be colorized, and colorizing a plurality of reproductions of the selected page. The plurality of reproduced pages are variably colorized with combinations of colors from the selected color scheme. A user selects the most desirably colorized page reproduction and the selected colorized page is re-displayed for further processing.
