A composition and a method for preparing a polymer composite article. The composition comprises (A) a filler in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt. The composition also comprises (B) a polymer in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt. %, wherein the (B) polymer is selected from polyolefins, polyamides, polyesters, or combinations thereof. Further, the composition comprises (C) an organopolysiloxane in an amount of from greater than 0 to 10 wt. %; the (C) organopolysiloxane having at least one silicon-bonded hydroxyl group and a viscosity of from 1,000 to 60,000 mPa·s at 25° C. The ranges for components (A)-(C) arc based on the total weight of components (A), (B) and (C) in the composition.

Composition, polymer composite article formed therewith, and method of preparing same

A composition and a method for preparing a polymer composite article. The composition comprises (A) a filler in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt. %. The composition also comprises (B) a polymer in an amount of from 10 to 90 wt. %, wherein the (B) polymer comprises a polyvinyl. Further, the composition comprises (C) an organopolysiloxane in an amount of from greater than 0 to 10 wt. %; the (C) organopolysiloxane having at least one silicon-bonded hydroxyl group and a viscosity of from 1,000 to 60,000 mPa·s at 25° C. The ranges for components (A)-(C) are based on the total weight of components (A), (B) and (C) in the composition.

A bonded multilayer article including: (a) at least one first layer of a silicone-containing rubber substrate material bonded to (b) at least one second layer of a substrate material bondable to the first layer; wherein at least a portion of the surface of the first layer is activated for adhesion to increase the bond strength of the first layer to a second layer such that the bond strength of the first layer bonded to the second layer is increased; and a process for producing the above bonded multilayer article.

A hydrosilylation process is used to prepare a clustered functional polyorganosiloxane. The clustered functional polyorganosiloxane comprises a reaction product of a reaction of a) a polyorganosiloxane having an average, per molecule, of at least 2 aliphatically unsaturated organic groups; b) a polyorganohydrogensiloxane having an average of 4 to 15 silicon atoms per molecule; and c) a reactive species having, per molecule at least 1 aliphatically unsaturated organic group and 1 or more radical curable groups selected from an acrylate group and a methacrylate group; in the presence of d) a hydrosilylation catalyst, and e) an isomer reducing agent. The weight percent of silicon bonded hydrogen atoms in component b) divided by the weight percent of aliphatically unsaturated organic groups in component a) (the SiH/Viratio) ranges from 4/1 to 20/1. The resulting clustered functional polyorganosiloxane is useful in a curable silicone composition for electronics applications.

Clustered functional polyorganosiloxanes, processes for forming same and methods for their use

A hydrosilylation process is used to prepare a polyorganosiloxane having clustered functional groups at the polyorganosiloxane chain terminals. The ingredients used in the process include a) a polyorganosiloxane having an average of at least 2 aliphatically unsaturated organic groups per molecule, b) a polyorganohydrogensiloxane having an average of 4 to 15 silicon atoms per molecule and at least 4 silicon bonded hydrogen atoms for each aliphatically unsaturated organic group in ingredient a), c) a reactive species having, per molecule at least 1 aliphatically unsaturated organic group and 1 or more curable groups; and d) a hydrosilylation catalyst. The resulting clustered functional polyorganosiloxane is useful in a curable silicone composition for electronics applications.

Process for preparing clustered functional polyorganosiloxanes, and methods for their use

Filled silicone composition, in situ preparation and use thereof are provided. The composition comprises a mixture of (A) an in situ-prepared treated silica, (B) an in situ-prepared (siloxane-alkylene)-endblocked polydiorganosiloxane, (c) a cure catalyst and (D) a crosslinker. Moreover, the composition can be used as adhesive, coating and sealant.

Filled silicone composition, in situ preparation and use thereof

Silicone elastomer base compositions containing a stabilizer are disclosed that provide cured silicone elastomers having improved high temperature performance. The stabilizer comprises carbon black, calcium carbonate, iron oxide, and optionally zinc oxide.

Fluoroplastics containing fluorocarbon resins and silicones are prepared by first mixing a fluorocarbon resin with a compatibilizer, then adding a curable organopolysiloxane with a radical initiator, and vulcanizing the organopolysiloxane in the mixture. The fluoroplastics can be processed by various techniques, such as extrusion, vacuum forming, injection molding, blow molding or compression molding, to fabricate plastic parts. The resulting fabricated parts can be re-processed (recycled) with little or no degradation of mechanical properties.
