An endoprosthesis has an expanded state and a contracted state, the endoprosthesis includes a stent having an inner surface defining a lumen, having an outer surface, and defining a plurality of apertures through the outer surface, wherein the apertures are arranged in a micropattern; and a coating (e.g., polymeric coating) attached to the outer surface of the stent. The coating includes a base and a tissue engagement portion including a second surface facing outwardly from the stent, the tissue engagement portion including a structure that defines a plurality of holes extending inwardly from the second surface toward the base. The holes are arranged in a micropattern. When the endoprosthesis is expanded to the expanded state in a lumen defined by a vessel wall, the structure applies a force that may reduce stent migration by creating an interlock between the vessel wall and the endoprosthesis.

An endoprosthesis has an expanded state and an unexpanded state, the endoprosthesis includes a stent, wherein the stent has a first end, a second end, an inner surface defining a lumen, an outer surface, and a thickness defined between the inner surface and the outer surface; and a stent end covering disposed at one of the first and second ends, the stent end covering including a polymeric coating that includes a base and a plurality of protrusions, the base including a first major surface facing the outer surface of the stent, the base further including a second major surface from which each of the plurality of protrusions extends outwardly, the first major surface opposing the second major surface, wherein the protrusions are arranged in a micropattern. Methods of making and using an endoprosthesis are provided.

An endoprosthesis has an expanded state and a contracted state, the endoprosthesis includes a stent having an inner surface defining a lumen and an outer surface; and a polymeric coating adhered to the outer surface of the stent. The polymeric coating includes a base and a plurality of protrusions extending outwardly from the base. When the endoprosthesis is expanded to the expanded state in a lumen defined by a vessel wall, the protrusions apply a force that creates an interlock between the vessel wall and the endoprosthesis.

A medical device is disclosed which includes a delivery member having at least two lumens extending within. Each lumen may include a rotational element within. Each rotational element may be configured to convert linear motion into rotational motion. The medical device may also include a snare element including a distal snare loop and two proximally extending legs. Each leg of the snare element may be within one of the two lumens. Further, the rotational element in a first lumen may be configured to impart a clock-wise rotation to a first leg of the two proximally extending legs, while the rotational element in a second lumen of the at least two lumens may be configured to impart a counter clock-wise rotation to a second leg of the two proximally extending legs.

Superhydrophobic coating for airway mucus plugging prevention

A medical device includes (a) a capsule including a lumen extending therethrough, a proximal end of the capsule including at least one window extending therethrough; (b) a bushing including a channel extending therethrough, a distal end including at least one arm extending distally therefrom such that a corresponding one of the arms is releasably engagable with a corresponding one of the windows; and (c) a core member including a locking portion and at least one engaging element. The locking portion is sized and shaped to be received within the channel of the bushing to apply a pressure to the arm such that the arm engages the windows. The engaging element extends laterally outward from a portion of the core member such that the engaging element engages a corresponding one of the arms to deform the arms radially inward and out of engagement with the windows.
