An angularly adjustable vehicle mirror with vibration damping. A casing, adapted to be secured in a mirror housing, supports a mirror back member for pivoting by a mechanism within the casing. Two rigid projections from the casing have surfaces extending generally in the direction the back member moves when it pivots relative to the casing. Vibration dampers are carried by the mirror back member remote from the pivot point of the mirror. Each damper extends rearwardly of the mirror into contact with the surface of a projection to inhibit vibration of the mirror. The vibration damping members are rigid in the direction the mirror moves but are flexible or articulated for movement transversely of the direction of mirror movement and are biased against the surfaces in slidable, frictional, engagement.

Angularly adjustable vehicle mirror

A mirror assembly for a motor vehicle, in which a mirror backplate is angularly adjustable by an electric motor and drive mechanism. The mirror backplate is pivotably connected to a motor drive casing with a secure yet releasable interconnection that includes a central stud on the backplate, locating structure for the stud on the casing, and a coupling member for releasably securing the stud to the casing. The central stud and two extending screws on the backplate are universally pivotable and integrally formed with the backplate. The screws are driven axially relative to the casing by motor driven rotated nuts within the casing to pivot the backplate and a supported mirror about the central stud.

A fixed motor drives a worm that is angularly movable through a flexible coupling into selective engagement with one of two nuts to drive adjusting screws that cause a mirror element to pivot about one of two mutually perpendicular axes. The screws and pivot structure for the mirror are integrally formed as part of a mirror supporting plate. The nuts are yieldably coupled to the threads of the adjusting screws to permit slippage between the two when forces exceed the wormed driving force. Operating noise is reduce by a vibration-damping motor mounting and by structure limiting worm engagement with the nuts. Projections are carried by the mirror supporting plate resiliently biased against a fixed support to reduce vibration.

Electrically adjustable vehicle accessory

A collapsible antenna, adjustable in length and carrying an impedance-matching coil, especially suitable for use with citizens-band transceivers that are operated from automobiles. When the antenna is collapsed, the coil is concealed within an antenna support, which in automotive applications is typically located beneath a vehicle body panel.

Electrically adjustable vehicle rear view mirror

A mode selector mechanism for a magnetic tape recorder/reproducer device for use with a cassette and having a housing, a cassette receiving opening, a tape drive mechanism and a plurality of actuators including a play, a stop and a record actuator, which actuators are movable from an outward at rest position to an inward operative position. A locking mechanism is positioned within the magnetic tape device housing and includes a first portion and a second portion, both portions being engageable with the actuators. When the tape transport is inserted into the tape player device, a solenoid is energized to move the first portion from a first position to a second position wherein it is selectively engageable by at least one of the actuators for holding the same in the inward operative position. The second portion of the locking mechanism is positioned within the housing and is engageable with the play actuator. Engagement of the play actuator with the second portion slidably moves the latter to prevent the inward movement of the record actuator. A connector arm is provided within the player and is engageable with either of the play or record actuators to effect engagement of the tape transport with the tape drive mechanism. The stop actuator is movable to an inward position for engagement with the first portion to disengage the play and record actuators, whichever is in the operative position.
