A method of treating a patient in need of an orthopedic implant is described. The method includes obtaining the T-score or bone density of the patient's native bone at a site of implantation, said T-score or bone density being determined by a DEXA scan or other means of determining a T-score or bone density. The method further includes selecting an orthopedic implant that has about the same density as the native bone at the site of implantation, and implanting the orthopedic implant at the site of implantation.

Bone density scan result-matched orthopedic implants and methods of use

An interspinous posterior device (IPD) is described. The IPD has a body and bone fixation elements on either side of the body, each of said bone fixation elements having a ratchet locking mechanism for fixing the body to successive spinous processes of a mammalian vertebra. Each of the bone fixation elements is independently adjustable by ratcheting it separately and independently of the other bone fixation elements. The body of the IPD has a dynamic configuration and a non-dynamic configuration, wherein the dynamic configuration allows for both extension and flexion of the successive spinous processes and the non-dynamic configuration prohibits extension of the successive spinous processes. The IPD also includes a removable extension restriction block, wherein the extension restriction block can optionally be inserted in the body to prohibit extension or can be removed from the body to allow extension.

Spinal implant for motion preservation or fusion

An apparatus for sacroiliac fusion surgery is provided. The apparatus includes a tube that allows x-ray visualization of objects passing through the tube, the tube having a proximal end with an opening and a distal end with an opening. The tube further has one or more mounts on its distal end for attaching removable anchoring tips thereto. The apparatus further has one or more removable anchoring tips attached to the distal end of the tube with the one or more mounts. The tube is made of a material that is radiolucent and permits x-ray visualization of objects that are passed through the tube.

Hybrid radiolucent surgical operating tube

A method of treating a patient who requires surgical implantation of an orthopedic implant is described. The method includes the steps of: determining the DEXA scan T-score of the patient's native bone at a site of surgical implantation where the implant will be in contact with the patient's native bone; retrieve from among three or more implants of the same type an implant that has a density that is closest to the density of the patient's native bone at the site of surgical implantation based on the DEXA scan T-score of the patient's native bone; and implanting the retrieved implant in the patient to the exclusion of the other two or more implants.

Body density scan result-matched orthopedic implants and methods of use

An orthopedic device has a configuration that employs a scalloped profile that defines internal scalloped edges having troughs and crests that extend substantially along the outer edge of a head of the device. The troughs and crests interface with a series of troughs and crests around the openings in the device. Each of the openings includes an outwardly extending slot that permits the opening to expand and contract outward as the head of the anchor is rotated. This enables an anti-backout feature that prevents or substantially inhibits undesired rotation and backout.

Disclosed is a device that is configured to be implanted adjacent interspinous processes of a patient. In one aspect, a spinal implant device comprises: a spacer region adapted to be positioned between first and second spinous processes of first and second vertebral bodies to limit movement of the first spinous process and the second spinous process toward one another; and an attachment region attached to the spacer region, the attachment region adapted to attach to the first spinous process via a fastener, the attachment region comprising a pair of pads having attachment elements that are configured to attach onto the spinous process.

Expandable interspinous device

A polyaxial interspinous fusion device is described. The polyaxial interspinous fusion device has a fixed anchor, a polyaxial anchor, and a bone spacer. The fixed anchor has a center ring, one or more fixed anchor arms projecting laterally from the center ring, and a barrel projecting transversely from the center ring. The polyaxial anchor has a socket ring and one or more polyaxial anchor arms projecting laterally from the socket ring, wherein the socket ring has a concave engagement surface. The bone spacer has a spacer head having a convex socket engagement surface that matches the concave engagement surface of the socket ring. The bone spacer also has one or more zip lock flanges extending transversely from the spacer head and one or more bone abutments extending transversely from the spacer head. The zip lock flanges and bone abutments of the bone spacer fit through the socket ring and the barrel of the fixed anchor fits through the socket ring. The zip lock flanges engage with the barrel when the zip lock flanges and bone abutments are inserted through the socket ring. When the polyaxial anchor engages with the spacer head, the polyaxial anchor has a polyaxial freedom of movement relative to the spacer head as a result of a ball and socket engagement between the concave engagement surface of the socket ring and convex socket engagement surface of the spacer head.

Polyaxial interspinous fusion implant and bone growth stimulation system

An interspinous fusion device is described. The interspinous fusion device includes a spacer member and an anchor member. The spacer member has a ring with two or more anchor assemblies projecting laterally from substantially opposite sides of the spacer member ring. The spacer member further has a first zip lock flange and a second zip lock flange, each of the first and second zip lock flanges extends transversely from the spacer member ring wherein each of the first and second zip lock flanges each comprises a series of teeth protruding from it. The anchor member has a ring with two or more anchor assemblies projecting laterally from substantially opposite sides of the anchor member ring. The anchor member further has a barrel extending transversely from the anchor member ring. The barrel comprises a first column of recesses adapted to mate with the teeth of the first zip lock flange and a second column of recesses adapted to mate with the teeth of the second zip lock flange. The spacer member is adapted to slide over the barrel of the anchor member such that the series of teeth of the first zip lock flange mates with the recesses in the first column of recesses of the barrel, and the series of teeth of the second zip lock flange mates with the recesses in the second column of recesses of the barrel to secure the spacer member to the anchor member.

Dynamic and non-dynamic interspinous fusion implant and bone growth stimulation system

A spine screw assembly is adapted to be loaded from a bottom of a receiver member. The spine screw assembly includes a bone fastener with a head having a groove that removably accepts a clip. The clip acts to retain the head of the bone fastener in the receiver member.
