Methods and systems for controlling lighting fixtures independently with image sensors. In an embodiment, a luminaire includes a controller, an image sensor and wide-angle lens component, and a light source. The controller receives detection signal data from the image sensor and wide-angle lens component when a user is within a detection area associated with a view angle of the wide angle lens, and then determines the position of the user. The controller then controls the illuminance of the light source based on the position of the user. In particular, illuminance is increased as the user approaches a center portion of the detection area, and decreased as the user moves away from the center portion.

Image sensor controlled lighting fixture

A lamp having improved color quality scale is provided. The lamp has a light-transmissive envelope and a phosphor layer comprising a first phosphor and a second phosphor wherein the first phosphor has an emission band with a maximum between 590 nm and 670 nm and the second phosphor has an emission band with a maximum between 520 nm and 570 nm. The light generated by the phosphor layer, when the lamp is energized, has delta chroma values for fifteen color samples of the color quality scale within select parameters. The delta chroma values are measured in the CIE LAB color space.

Enhanced color contrast light source

A lighting system and method for controlling illumination of the same upon detection of a user in at least one of a first detection area and a second detection area. The lighting system can include a lighting fixture having one or more lighting sources and at least two sensors associated with separate detection areas. Each sensor can send a signal to a controller associated with the lighting fixture, and the controller can be configured to vary the illumination of one or more of the lighting sources depending on the each sensor's detection area. The present subject matter facilitates energy savings since areas away from an occupied area are not illuminated. Communication between neighboring lighting fixtures is not required since each lighting fixture can detect the presence of a user in an area proximate an adjacent lighting fixture in order to trigger illumination of the lighting fixture.

A photobioreactor system is provided that comprises a bioreactor including at least two bioreactor tubes, each having an end and a hollow interior, the ends being connectively joined by one or more connector units having a hollow portion defined by a circumference, a solar concentrator configured to collect and concentrate solar power, at least one light guide associated with the solar concentrator to illuminate the hollow portion of the one or more connector units, and at least one LED illuminating the one or more connector units.

Solar hybrid photobioreactor

A high intensity discharge lighting assembly capable of instant ON/OFF operation with a lamp housing having therein an HID lamp, an instant ON igniter circuit and lamp driver circuitry. The housing may have a screw in base or may be configured for fixed mounting on an open receptacle box. In one version, a non-replaceable HID lamp has leads permanently connected to the instant ON circuitry. In another version, the HID lamp has an integral base with pins which are plugged in to a socket provided in the housing.

A fluorescent lamp includes a discharge tube having an inner wall forming a discharge chamber. One or more coiled electrodes are disposed within the discharge tube. A mercury containing composition is disposed on at least one coiled electrode.

Mercury dosing method for fluorescent lamps

Different arrangements for improving the coupling-in efficiency between an LED assembly and a light guide are disclosed. In a first arrangement, a substantially planar end of a light guide is seated on a perimeter wall of a support that encloses a LED assembly, and a reflecting surface enhances coupling efficiency of a light guide. Alternative arrangements use a separate coupler disposed between the LED assembly and the light guide, which coupler has a paraboloid or aspheroid conformation to develop substantially collimated light that is directed into the light guide. The cavity around the LED assembly and within the coupler, may be air or a material having an index of refraction that closely matches the index of refraction of the light guide material.

The light-transmissive glass envelope can comprise a light-transmissive mixed alkali glass envelope and the phosphor layer can comprise a phosphor layer of approximately three mg/cm. A barrier layer of approximately 0.3 mg/cmor less of alumina can be applied to the inner surface of the light-transmissive glass envelope. The mercury dose can be present in an amount to provide a saturated mercury vapor pressure within the light-transmissive glass envelope throughout substantially the entire life of the lamp. The lamp can have an end-of-life mercury consumption value of approximately 0.63 mg or less, including 0.44 mg or less, and a warm-up value in the range of approximately 40 to 50 seconds or less, including 30 seconds or less.
