An apparatus for inspecting or observing a material web, a process of inspecting the material web and a method for operating the apparatus for inspecting or observing the material web are provided. The apparatus has a guiding device through which the material web is guided and a camera including a field of view and configured to record an image of the front side within the field of view. An incident light transmitter is configured to illuminate the front side with incident light, and a background panel is arranged on the rear side of the material web within the field of view. The background panel includes a diffuser plate, a light guide plate, a reflecting surface, and a light source configured to couple light into the light guide plate which is configured to uncouple the light to illuminate the rear side of the material web with transmitted light.

A sensor () serves for capturing a moving material web (). It has at least one light source () and at least one light detector (). At least one polarization element () is provided between the two, which polarization element influences polarization properties of the light transmitted by the polarization element () as a function of an electric field. Markings such as for example metal strips () in the material web () can thus be captured in the light detector () without problem.

Sensor for capturing a moving material web

In a method for testing a box blank formed from flat material, the said box blank is guided along a blade (). At least one of the layers () is folded onto the blade (), so that it is located between the layers (). A component () is located opposite the blade (), which component is located outside the box blank (). Waves () which are affected by the layer () are propagated between the blade () and the component (). In order to achieve a high contrast, the blade has at least one physical property which differs from the corresponding physical property of the box blank.

Method and device for testing box blanks

A sensor () serves for capturing the moving material web (). It has light sources (') and at least one light detector (). The light sources (&#x2032;) generate emission light () having different polarization. The polarization state of the emitted light can be influenced by selecting or mixing the emission light () of the light sources (&#x2032;). Markings such as for example metal strips () in the material web () can thus be captured with the light detector () without problem.

Some aspects relate to an apparatus for detecting an edge of a material web. In some examples, the apparatus comprises an ultrasound sensor which comprises two or more separately readable ultrasound receiver elements and an ultrasound transmitter element, wherein the ultrasound transmitter element is designed and arranged such that it applies an ultrasound measurement signal to two or more of the ultrasound receiver elements.

Apparatus for detecting an edge of a material web

A device for detecting a selvage of a material web or the selvage position in one measuring direction. The device comprises at least one ultrasonic sensor, with the ultrasonic sensor comprising a transmitter element and a receiver element. The external contour of at least one of the transmitter elements and/or of the receiver elements comprises at least one arc segment side and at least one flattened side.

Device for detecting a selvage of a material web

An apparatus () serves for linear illumination of a moving product web (), the apparatus () having at least one light source () emitting light. In order to achieve high luminance in a linear subregion of the product web (), at least a portion of the light emitted by the light source () is reflected towards the product web () by at least one tubular reflector (). The tubular reflector () in this case has at least one light exit slit () which is assigned to the product web (). Moreover, the tubular reflector has at least one observation slit () which lies opposite the light exit slit (). The illuminated product web () can be observed through this observation slit () by means of a line camera ().
