A multi-ratio gearbox housing for a vehicle is made of light metal material and includes a first bearing seat having a cylindrical inner surface, and a reinforcement member having a first cylindrical inner surface surrounding the first bearing seat for reducing thermal radial expansion of the first bearing seat, the reinforcement member being of a material the coefficient of thermal expansion of which is less than the coefficient of thermal expansion of the light metal material of the housing. The reinforcing member is a cast-in insert arranged in the housing, and a radial distance between the first cylindrical inner surface and the cylindrical inner surface of the first bearing seat is substantially constant along circumferential lines of the first bearing seat, facilitating improved form stability of the cylindrical inner surface of the first bearing seat over the temperature operating range of the housing.

Multi-ratio gearbox housing

A multi-clutch power shift transmission for a motor vehicle with at least one prime mover is provided, where a shaft brake unit is arranged to reduce the rotational speed of one of two input shafts, and a central synchronizing unit is arranged to make a first of the input shafts rotate faster or slower than a second of the input shafts. The shaft brake unit and the central synchronizing unit are arranged to be simultaneously activated in order to reduce rotating speeds prior to the engagement of tooth clutches when the output shaft is not rotating. The input shaft brake unit is arranged to be used when performing a multi-step power shift.

A gear transmission is provided including at least a first and a second shaft with substantially fixed and substantially parallel axes of rotation, a transmission housing with a first and a second wall that extends perpendicular to the axes of rotation, and a plurality of gearwheels that are rotationally fixed or rotationally fixable to the shafts. The shafts include at least one input shaft and at least one output shaft, the shafts being suspended by bearings that are seated in the first and second walls. The first wall is connected to the second wall with at least one rod in order to reduce deflections in operation of the first and second walls.

The device includes at least one first auxiliary brake () of a first type and at least one second auxiliary brake () of a second type that is different from the first type. Information is stored in the control system regarding characteristics of the respective auxiliary brake () and at least one predefined limit value for maximally permitted auxiliary brake torque. The control system () is designed such that, if the limit value is exceeded or if a request is made for the brake force from the auxiliary brakes () to be moderated, then this is done by turning down or moderating, in the first place, the brake torque of the retarder ().
