An ostomy appliance includes a cover layer provided separately from a body side member (BSM). The BSM includes a proximal surface with adhesive provided for attaching the body side member to skin of a user, a releasable material provided distal to the adhesive, and a stoma receiving opening formed through the body side member and the releasable material. When the cover layer is attached to the body side member, the cover layer forms a portion of a distal surface of the body side member. Openings in the cover layer allow the releasable material to move to the distal surface of the body side member.

An ostomy system operable to inform an ostomate of an ostomy device condition useful in preventing leakage relative to the ostomy device includes a base plate, an electrode assembly, a coupling part connected to the electrode assembly, and a monitor device adapted to connect to the coupling part. The electrode assembly is configured to sense ostomy data including moisture propagation in the adhesive layer. The monitor device is configured to collect the ostomy data and inform the user of a future leakage condition.

A sensor patch () for attachment to a base plate of an ostomy appliance is provided. The sensor patch comprises a distal surface, a proximal surface, and an outer contour. The distal surface is adapted for attachment to an adhesive surface of the base plate, and the proximal surface being adapted for attachment to the skin surface of a user. The sensor patch further comprises one or more electrodes () comprising a spatial layout, and a planar adhesive layer () having a proximal side and a distal side () and comprising a first spatial shape. The one or more electrodes are arranged on the distal side of the adhesive layer and the first spatial shape of the adhesive layer generally corresponds to the spatial layout of the one or more electrodes.

Sensor patch for an ostomy appliance

An ostomy base plate includes an adhesive layer, an electrode assembly, and a monitor interface. The adhesive layer is located on a proximal side of the ostomy base plate. The electrode assembly is disposed on a distal side of the adhesive layer and includes a plurality of electrodes having connection parts and sensing parts. The monitor interface is connected to the ostomy base plate, with the monitor interface including a coupling part adapted to mechanically connect a data monitor to the ostomy base plate and electrically connect the data monitor to the plurality of electrodes of the electrode assembly. A lock is provided on the monitor interface to hold the data monitor in mechanical connection to the monitor interface to ensure electrical connection between the data monitor and the plurality of electrodes of the electrode assembly.

An accessory separate from and attachable to an adhesive body side member of an ostomy appliance is disclosed. The accessory includes a proximal surface that is attachable to a distal side of the adhesive body side member and a distal surface opposite from and connected to the proximal surface. The accessory has a pocket formed between the proximal surface and the distal surface of the accessory, with an opening formed to communicate with the pocket, and manipulable material disposed in the pocket. The manipulable material is adapted to be displaced out of the pocket through the opening and is adapted to absorb stoma moisture to prevent the stoma moisture from reaching an adhesive of the adhesive body side member to effectively increase a wear time of the adhesive body side member.

Disclosed is a coupling part and a base plate comprising a coupling part. The coupling part comprises a first coupling part section and a second coupling part section. The first coupling part section being configured for attachment to a first part of the base plate, and the second coupling part section being configured for attachment to a second part of the base plate. A body side member of an ostomy appliance comprising releasable material provided in one or more overlays covered by individual cover layers. The releasable material is adapted to engage with stomal output to prevent breakdown of the adhesive attaching the ostomy appliance to the skin surface around a stoma of a user. The cover layers are individually removable and can be removed one at a time to release the releasable material.
