The invention relates to a pressure regulator in a shock absorber valve. The pressure regulator comprises an axially movable first valve part and a first seat, which are arranged in a valve housing in such a way that an adjustable flow opening is created between the parts. The flow opening is arranged to restrict a damping medium flow (q) and its flow opening size (s) is determined by a force balance on the first valve part. The force balance is principally or partially created by the sum of an actuating force (F) and the force (Fs) from a spring arrangement counter to the action of a counter holding regulator force (R). The spring arrangement comprises a first spring having a first spring constant (k) and a second spring having a second spring constant (k). The counter holding regulator force (R) is determined by the spring characters of both the first and the second spring, in which the first spring interacts with the actuating force (F) throughout the stroke (S) and the second spring works in series with the first spring in an initial stroke (S) close to the seat, in which the size of the initial stroke is determined by the working range of the second spring.

Pressure regulator for shock absorber valve

A valve device for electrically regulating a pressure in a hydraulic fluid flow through the valve device in response to an actuating force during a normal operation and mechanically regulating said pressure during a fail-safe operation when no actuating force is present is disclosed. The valve device has a valve chamber. A first valve member is movable within the valve chamber in an axial direction to interact with a first valve seat in response to the actuating force in order to restrict the hydraulic fluid flow into the valve chamber during normal operation. The first valve member is spring-loaded away from the second seat in a direction opposite that of the actuating force such that the first valve member is movable in the axial direction. A second valve member forms a movable chamber wall portion defining a part of the valve chamber. The second valve member is spring-loaded in the direction of the actuating force. The second valve member has a through hole for allowing hydraulic fluid flow out of the valve chamber during normal operation. The spring-loaded first valve member is arranged to close the flow passage during fail-safe operation such that the pressure is mechanically regulated by the second valve member acting on the second valve seat.

Valve device

A valve () comprises a spring arrangement comprising a stiff () and a weak spring (). The weak spring () has the form of a thin, circular disc having a first spring surface (') and a second spring surface (&#x2032;), and an inner spring part () and an outer spring part () substantially separated from each other with cavities (), yet at two points, at least, connected with legs (). The effect of the connection is that the outer spring part () and the inner spring part () can deflect in relation to each other.

Shock absorber valve with spring arrangement

An electronically-controlled damper arrangement includes a valve assembly. The valve assembly features a valve slide that carries at least two pistons. The first piston controls flow through two separate flow paths while the second piston controls damping provided by the valve slide. The first piston being both axially moveable and radially moveable within a valve housing.
