The invention relates to a discharge lamp, in particular a high-pressure discharge lamp, having a discharge vessel () which has two diametrically opposite necks () into each of which a holding rod () is fused at least in places, with an electrode () which extends into the discharge vessel () being arranged on each holding rod (), and with in each case at least one annular plate () at least partially clasping a holding rod (), with at least one of the annular plates () being arranged in the discharge vessel ().

A short arc high-pressure discharge lamp () for dc operation, includes a discharge vessel () that has two necks () diametrically opposite each other, in which an anode () and a cathode () made of tungsten are melted in a gastight manner, and which has a filling made of at least one noble gas and possibly mercury. According to the invention, at least the material of the cathode tip () contains lanthanum oxide LaOand at least another oxide from the group consisting of hafnium oxide HfOand zirconium oxide ZrOin addition to the abovementioned tungsten.
