Method for mapping the environment of motor vehicles

The present disclosure concerns a method and device that assists a parking maneuver of a motor vehicle. The method and device to assist a parking maneuver of a motor vehicle, with which the motor vehicle is maneuvered into an intended parking space at least partly, automatically, detects a curb bounded by at least one curb edge located in a vicinity of the motor vehicle. A trajectory is determined along which the motor vehicle can be moved into the intended parking space while carrying out at least one move of the maneuver. The trajectory is modified depending on at least one distance between the at least one curb edge and a tire of the motor vehicle that is expected for the trajectory while carrying out the parking maneuver.

Method and device that assists a parking maneuver of a motor vehicle

Method and apparatus are disclosed for parking spot identification for vehicle park-assist. An example vehicle includes range-detection sensors, an acceleration sensor, an autonomy unit to perform park-assist, and a controller. The controller is configured to determine, via the acceleration sensor, whether the vehicle is accelerating. The controller also is to, responsive to determining that the vehicle is not accelerating, identify potential parking spots for the park-assist via the range-detection sensors. The controller also is to, responsive to detecting that the vehicle is accelerating, suppress identification of the potential parking spots.

A method for assisting a parking procedure of a motor vehicle in an available parking space. An electronic parking assistance system (EPAS) is operated to: acquire information related to a parking area having multiple parking spaces arranged adjacent and parallel to one another; generate a virtual map including positions of an available space, two flanking vehicles parked on opposed sides of the available space, and at least one additional vehicle parked alongside one of the two flanking parked vehicles on a side opposite from the available space; and determine a parking position in the available space considering the respective positions of the flanking vehicles and the additional vehicle. A vehicle steering system and/or braking system and/or powertrain is operated by the EPAS to guide the motor vehicle to the parking position.
