The present application relates to an abutment system () and its use. The abutment system () comprises: a soft tissue level abutment part () adapted to be attached to a bone level dental implant () by means of an abutment screw (), wherein the abutment system is adapted to selectively support both a cement-retained final restoration () and a screw-retained prosthetic component (). The present application also relates to dental methods.

Abutment system and dental methods

A medical implant and a method of implanting a medical implant are described. The medical implant can be elongate and for fixation in a patient, and can include an apical bone anchoring portion for bone apposition, and an unthreaded coronal portion. The coronal portion can have a length (L) exceeding or equaling a length (L) of the apical portion. The apical portion can have a maximum outer diameter (D) that is equal to or larger than a maximum outer diameter (D) of the coronal portion. In a method of implanting a medical implant, an apical part can be affixed in the zygomatic bone, and a coronal part can be positioned outside the maxilla in the mucous membrane.

Medical implant and method of implantation

A medical implant and a method of implanting a medical implant are disclosed. In some embodiments, the medical implant can include an apical bone anchoring portion for bone apposition and an unthreaded coronal portion. The coronal portion can have a length (L) exceeding or equaling a length (L) of the apical portion. Further, in some embodiments, the apical portion has a maximum outer diameter (D) that is equal to or larger than a maximum outer diameter (D) of the coronal portion. In some embodiments of the method, an apical part of an implant is affixed in the zygomatic bone and a coronal part is positioned outside the maxilla in the mucous membrane.

An implant is provided with an upper portion in which an internal socket extends. The implant can be tightened by a turning instrument which has first lateral surfaces that can cooperate with corresponding second lateral surfaces in the internal socket. One or more of the first and/or second lateral surfaces is/are arranged completely or partially with friction-enhancing means. The implant and the tool are arranged with interacting parts which extend beyond the first and second lateral surfaces and completely or substantially take up bending moments which act in or on said portion or are directed toward said portion and occur in the event of skewing, or a tendency toward skewing, between the implant and the tool. The arrangement counteracts mechanical stresses in said portion, the latter being able to retain its original shape even in the case of implants with small dimensions.

The present invention relates to an abutment (), comprising: a ceramic part (); and a metal adapter () removably attachable to the ceramic part, wherein the metal adapter has a conical connection interface () for attachment to a dental implant (). A combination of a guide sleeve for a surgical template, a drill, and a thread forming tool is disclosed. The guide sleeve has a guide surface for guiding the thread forming tool. The drill has at least one cutting edge for cutting a recess in bone. The thread forming tool has a thread forming section for forming at least one thread in bone, and a guide section for guidance by the guide surface of the guide sleeve, the thread forming section comprising an apical portion, and a coronal portion. A maximum diameter of the apical portion of the thread forming section is smaller than or equal to a maximum diameter of the cutting edge of the drill.

A spacer () with associated adapter () is designed to be fitted on an implant (). The adapter comprises first and second portions () designed to cooperate with the spacer and the implant, respectively, for securing the spacer on the implant. The adapter is completely enclosed by the spacer and the implant, and the first portion of the adapter can be designed with slits for forming resilient elements on said portion and/or with penetrating parts which, when the adapter and the spacer are joined together, are deformed as it penetrates into opposite parts in the spacer material. The spacer and the adapter can in this way be easily held together upon application to the implant and can be taken apart when completion work is performed on the spacer.

This method increases the precision of the components in an impression system for dental prosthesis of the type permanently anchored in the jaw by at least one securing elements implanted in the jawbone. Each of the securing elements is provided with a distance member whose upper part protrudes above the palatal arch and on which the finished dental bridge/dental prosthesis is then anchored via a so-called gold cylinder. The system includes impression components in the form of impression tops and distance dummies with continuous guide holes and stop members for a guide pin which, during fixing of the components, is guided through the respective guide hole and engages with the stop members of the respective impression component. That part of the guide pin which interacts with the stop members of the guide holes of the respective impression component has a conical stop surface, while the stop members form plane surfaces and guide edges. By such a design of the guide pin, the components are centered and the precision is improved in existing impression systems.

A screw-shaped titanium anchoring member for permanent anchorage in bone tissue, specifically permanent anchorage of artificial teeth or tooth bridges in the jaw-bone, comprises at least one cavity located at the forward tip of the screw, the edges of the at least one cavity on the outer threaded cylindrical surface forming cutting tooth with cutting edge to provide self-tapping when the anchoring member is screwed into a bored hole in the bone tissue and the total volume of the at least one cavity being adapted to contain the scraped-off bone tissue material. The anchoring member on the outer cylindrical surface of the cutting tooth, a short distance behind its cutting edge, is provided with a clearance surface defined on the outer surface of the anchoring member, which when seen in a cross-section through the cutting part of the anchoring member, is slightly bevelled a short distance behind the threaded cutting edge.

The invention relates to a cylinder 1 designed to be inserted in a temporary, implant-supported dental bridge/dental prosthesis,, a so-called temporary cylinder, and which comprises an upper part 2 which is surrounded by the dental bridge/dental prosthesis and a base section 4 for connection to the spacer element 6 of the implant. The cylinder is made of a polymer material and the upper part 2 has a conical outer contour.
