A method for controlling a pressure () in an injection system () for an engine () of a vehicle () comprises the following steps: determining whether the vehicle () is decelerating; reducing the delivery rate of a high-pressure pump () that supplies fuel to the injection system (); reducing the pressure in the injection system () to a standstill pressure (p) by means of idle operation of the engine (); estimating a standstill time (t) at which the vehicle () comes to a standstill; and reducing the delivery rate of the high-pressure pump () before the standstill time (t) is reached, such that the standstill pressure (p) is attained in the injection system () at the standstill time (t).
