A fracture fixation system in which a plate is secured to stable bone and posts are inserted at varying angles into an unstable bone fragment by engaging in rotatable bearings which are fixedly secured in the plate when the posts are fully engaged in the bone fragment. The bearings are formed as truncated spherical members having a number of longitudinal slots extending partway along the length of the bearing to form petals which are expanded outwardly when the posts are advanced in the bearing to produce non-uniform distribution of forces between the bearing and the plate which generate force couples to resist angulation of the posts and loss of fracture fixation. Various other ways of producing non-uniform force distribution are described.

Fracture fixation system

Method and device to be used in osteotomy in securing two separated parts of a bone in relation to each other before and after removing an excessive part thereof. After removing and/or holding/keeping apart tissue like muscles, tendons, skin and so on, a longitudinally shaped fixation device is applied atop of a site of said bone (B) where the excision is to be performed. The device is secured with the use of one or more nails or screws at one first end thereof with the use of a hole or holes providing a snug fit to the bone as well as the device. The fixation device is secured at its other second end with the use of one or more elongated holes or slots in the longitudinal direction of the fixation device, which holes once the bone portion to be excised is taken away, provide for movability of the bone ends thus created towards each other. This is temporarily achieved by using prefabricated gliding pins and guiding holes in the respective parts fixing a cutting guide to the fixation device enabling a controlled cutting of a part of bone to be excised. After cutting the bone to a preferred configuration the bone ends created are pushed towards and into contact with each other whereafter a screw is driven into a prefabricated hole in the fixation device to transversely penetrate and snugly fit the taxation device and both bone ends together, keeping a steady state, during which at least one screw is snugly fitted to the other second end of the bone such as to finally keep the bone ends together in order to heal.

Method and device for use in osteotomy

A fixation device for fixing a fracture in a bone structure, in which a fixation pin adapted for penetrating into a stable fragment of a bone structure across a fracture has an end extending from an unstable fragment of the bone structure and a fixation plate adapted for being secured to the stable bone fragment distally from the end of the fixation pin. The fixation plate is engageable with the end of the pin to prevent the pin from backing out of the unstable bone fragment while providing restraint against movement of the pin in the plane of the plate. The end of the pin extending from the unstable bone fragment is engaged an opening in the end of the fixation plate and restrained thereat.

Fracture fixation device in which a fixation pin is axially restrained

The present implant is for fixing femoral fractures and the like. The implant consists of three main parts, namely a first part consisting of an angle element, a second part which forms a holder and a third part in the form of a screw. The angle element includes a sleeve for receiving the screw. Both the sleeve and the screw are intended to be passed into a channel provided through the neck and head of the femur of a patient. The angle element moreover includes a slide which is slidingly accommodated by the holder. The holder is, in its turn, secured by means of anchorage screws in the shaft of the femur. By cooperation between the slide and the holder the possibility is afforded that the angle element may move in relation to the shaft of the femur. The sleeve of the angle element is disposed at an angle in relation to the slide.

Implant for fixing femoral fractures

The present invention relates to an implant for fixing femoral fractures and the like. The implant consists of three main parts, namely a first part consisting of an angle element, a second part which forms a holder and a third part in the form of a screw. The angle element includes a sleeve for receiving the screw. Both the sleeve and the screw are intended to be passed into a channel provided through the neck and head of the femur of a patient.
