In tools for clipping material of different hardness and dimensions, there are required blade-portions (1, 2) having different characterics. A pliers jaw, the blade-portion of which is formed with different edge angles (a.alpha..sub.1, .alpha..sub.2), different edge radii and different widths (b, B) on its outer chamfer surface (5) results in a tool which is usable for different materials. By configuring different cutting areas (6, 7) by distinctly machining the jaw, the right cutting area can easily be localized for the material in question that is to be cut.

A wire retainer, as well as a box joint nipper provided with such wire retainer, which is made from sheet metal and fittable to a side nipper of the kind consisting of two members crossing each other at a box joint portion, which are pivotably kept together by a hinge means and form the jaws and handles of the nipper. The wire retainer prevents offcuts from dropping when cutting and has an elastically yielding wire retainer tongue projecting out along one jaw of the nipper to retain the offcut between it and the opposite jaw. The wire retainer has an attachment portion from which the wire retainer tongue projects. The attachment portion comprises a plate with a hook on both side edges for removal and fitting to one of the members of the nipper in the region of the hinged portion.

Wire nippers

A grip sleeve (1) from plastics or the like material, for a handle of a pliers or nippers of the kind which has at least one leaf spring (3) between both its handles for opening the pliers. To localize and retain the spring, the sleeve is formed with an elongate slot (4) on its side facing towards the opposite handle, the slot being open towards the opposite handle and is T-shaped, seen in cross section through the sleeve. At one end, the slot has its cross section, which is suited to the cross-sectional dimensions of the spring, freely exposed for inserting the spring in the crossbar (5) of the T. The stem (6) of the T forms the opening of the slot and the spring is thereby kept in place by flanges (7) on either side of this opening, formed by the T configuration.
