The present invention relates to a procedure for measuring the wheel angle on steerable vehicles. When determining large course angles, such as maximum wheel deflection, the course angle itself, which is difficult to measure, is not measured directly. Instead, the wheel camber (or turning) is measured and this angle is then utilized to calculate the course angle sought, with the aid of known values of straight course angles of the wheel and gradient of the kingpin.

In order to improve the measuring accuracy in optical distance meters determining transit-time, the meters having optical senders emitting short pulses (11), optical receivers in which the reflected pulse received from the object to which the distance is being measured is converted to a corresponding electrical pulse (12), the signal received is repeatedly digitalized (13a, 13b, etc.) and these digital values are stored in a memory. Each of these stored values, is then fed from the memory one by one a predetermined number of times (14a, 14b, etc.) to a digital low-pass filter with deriving characteristic within its pass band. The number of computations of this filter before the output magnitude (15a, 15b, etc.) of the filter passes zero (16) constitutes a measurement (17) of the distance to the object being measured.

Method and means in optical distance meters

An apparatus for determining the roll position of a spinning projectile with the aid of polarized electro-magnetic radiation comprises a transmitter for emitting polarized radiation in a direction towards the projectile and a polarization-sensitive receiver disposed in the projectile for receiving the polarized radiation. The polarized radiation emitted from the transmitter has an asymmetric wave-form which is formed by superimposing at least two mutually phase-interlocked radiation components of the wavelength relationship of 2:1 and/or multiples thereof, and the polarization-sensitive receiver includes a single receiver antenna.

Apparatus for determining roll position

Transmitter and receiver devices are included in an active optic proximity fuse for providing increased resistance to aerosols. The transmitter and receiver units operate with optical radiation and include a signal processing unit which reacts to a target located in a sensing region and reflecting optical radiation emitted from the transmitter device to the receiver device. The sensing region displays, most proximal a carrier of the proximity fuse, an inner sensing limit which is located at an inner distance from the carrier. The signal processing unit operates with preparatory signal processing and/or time measurement of reflected signals when the target is located within the sensing region, and emits an activation signal only when the target passes the inner sensing limit.

Detector device

A proximity fuse for a launchable unit, for example a missile, includes transmitters for emitting optic radiation in a plurality of narrow part lobes, and receivers for receiving optic radiation emitted through the part lobes and reflected from a target towards which the unit is homing in. The receivers are enabled to discern reflecting radiation derived from each respective part lobe from the radiation emitted and reflected from other part lobes. The radiation derived from each respective part lobe is processed individually in the receiver.

Proximity fuse

An apparatus for measuring the coordinates of a target object with respect to a reference point within a particular field of view. A mask having a radiation transparent portion bounded by a straight line and a substantially logarithmic curve meeting at the reference point rotates about the reference point at a reference frequency to modulate a beam of radiant energy from the target object. The modulated beam is applied to a detector that generates corresponding electrical pulses having a duration that corresponds to the radial distance of the target object from the reference point. The phase shift of the pulses with respect to the reference frequency determines the angular position of the target.
