A safety system for a breathing apparatus for delivery of an anesthetic agent having an anesthetic agent vaporizer having a reservoir for containing a liquid anesthetic agent has a reservoir for containing a liquid medical agent, a port for filling the reservoir with the liquid anesthetic agent, and a sensor device for sensing a filling action of the port. A change of position of a lid covering the port is can be detected, or insertion of a fill vessel into said the port is can be detected. Thus safety of said the equipment is improved by being able to de-pressurize the reservoir before opening a filling valve for communication of the port with the interior of the reservoir.

Safety system for a breathing apparatus for delivering an anesthetic agent

A gas meter for ultrasound measurements in a breathing apparatus has a gas conduit having an inner wall defining an inlet of the gas conduit and an outlet in a second end of the gas conduit, and an ultrasound transducer arrangement configured to measure the speed of sound in a gas flowing through a part of said gas conduit forming a measurement chamber. The gas meter has a self-draining design to prevent condensation water and other liquids from negatively affecting the ultrasound measurements. To this end, at least a lower surface of the inner wall of the gas conduit is inclined downwardly relative to the horizontal plane in the longitudinal direction of the gas conduit, at both sides of the measurement chamber causing condensation water to be pulled away from the measurement chamber by gravity.

A ventilatory valve controls a pressure level in a patient breathing circuit of an anesthetic breathing apparatus. The ventilatory valve has a valve unit having a controllable restriction to control the pressure level in an expiratory branch of the breathing circuit of the anesthetic breathing apparatus, an electrical operating unit for the valve unit, configured to electrically control the restriction during electrical operation of the anesthetic breathing apparatus, and a non-electrical operating unit () for the valve unit, configured to non-electrically control the restriction upon electrical defective or powerless operation of the anesthetic breathing apparatus.
