Embodiments of the present disclosure disclose devices, methods and apparatuses for cell activation. In the embodiments, a terminal determines a pathloss-reference signal (PL-RS) as known for a secondary cell (SCell) with an uplink based on at least one measurement result or a measurement report. The measurement report is triggered due to a cell activation command. Then, the terminal device activates, based on the PL-RS determined as known, the SCell within a first time period. In this way, communication performance related to the carrier aggregation operations can be improved.

Cell activation

Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to relaxing measurements for failure detection in a cell. In example embodiments, a device performs measurements on one or more reference signals on one or more measurement occasions and determines one or more reference signal received power, RSRP, levels of a cell based on the measurements on the one or more reference signals. Further, the device determines one or more reference RSRP levels reflecting radio link quality or beam quality, one of the reference RSRP levels being associated with one of the determined one or more RSRP levels of the cell. The device evaluates a relaxation criterion based on the one or more reference RSRP levels and the one or more determined RSRP levels of the cell. Moreover, the device relaxes measurements for failure detection in the cell, if it is evaluated that the relaxation criterion has been fulfilled for a time period.

Relaxation of measurements for failure detection

Embodiments of the present disclosure disclose devices, methods and apparatuses for cell activation triggered layer 3 (L3) reporting. In an aspect, a terminal device receives a cell activation command to activate a plurality of cells in a frequency band. Based on status of the plurality of cells and association information between cells comprising at least the plurality of cells to be activated in the frequency band, the terminal device determines whether L3 reporting is to be triggered. Based on determining that the L3 reporting is to be triggered, the terminal device transmits an L3 report. By considering the cell status e.g. known/unknown, and the association information among the cells on the same band, the terminal device may determine if L3 reporting is to be triggered for cells on different frequency bands, for example, on frequency range 1(FR1) and frequency range 2(FR2), respectively, and hence achieves a faster cell activation.

Cell activation triggered layer 3 reporting

There is provided an apparatus comprising: means for receiving, on a source cell, a radio resource control configuration for at least one candidate cell including first configuration information and second configuration information; means for decoding the first configuration information; means for performing the at least one measurement based on the first configuration information; means for transmitting, on the source cell, a measurement report comprising at least one result of the at least one measurement; means for receiving, on the source cell, a message triggering the apparatus to decode the second configuration information; means for decoding the second configuration information; means for receiving, on the source cell, a command to switch the apparatus to a target cell selected amongst the at least one candidate cell; and means for switching to the target cell based on the second configuration information.

Method, apparatus and computer program

Apparatuses and methods for controlling measurements are disclosed. A message is received from a network element, the message including instructions to perform measurements of given carriers during given measurement gap pattern during next connection setup with the network. Connection setup is started with the network and the measurements of given carriers are performed during the given measurement gap pattern and measurement result reported to the network.

Controlling network measurements

Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for enhanced beam switching. A method may include informing a network element about a user equipment type and capability in beam switching from a source beam to a target beam. The method may further include receiving a request from the network element to switch from the source beam to the target beam. The method may also include based on the user equipment type and capability, receiving a reference signal for timing adjustment with the target beam. In addition, the method may include switching from the source beam to the target beam. Further, the method may include adjusting the time or frequency tracking of the target beam after the switching based the reference signal.

Enhanced beam switching

Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for enhanced handling time alignment timer at transmission configuration indicator state switch are provided. For example, a method can include performing a transmission configuration indicator state switch to a network element. The method can also include determining whether an uplink timing is aligned with respect to the network element. The method can further include determining whether a random access channel procedure is needed to adjust uplink timing in response to the determining that the uplink timing is not aligned. The method can additionally include adjusting the uplink transmit timing in response to a result of the determining whether random access channel procedure is needed to adjust uplink timing.

Enhanced time alignment timer at transmission configuration indicator state switch

Method, apparatus and computer program for beam reporting

Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for beam tracking to reduce latency. A method may include receiving from a network node, a radio resource control reconfiguration message. The method may also include sending a radio resource control reconfiguration complete message in response to the radio resource control reconfiguration message. The method may further include performing radio resource management measurements according to information contained in the radio resource control reconfiguration message. In addition, the method may include preparing a measurement report based on the radio resource management measurements. Further, the method may include sending the measurement report to the network node. Inter-alia, a method is disclosed comprising: obtaining measurement configuration information indicative of a measurement configuration for a measurement on at least one target secondary cell of a mobile communication network, executing a handover to a target cell, and, before and/or during executing the handover, starting a measurement on at least one target secondary cell based, at least in part, on the measurement configuration information. Early measurements for PSCell addition after handover

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a method, device and computer readable storage medium of communication. The method implemented at a first device comprises receiving, from a second device, a first configuration about a first measurement of first downlink reference signals of the second device and a second configuration about a second measurement of second downlink reference signals of a third device; determining, based on an active bandwidth part of the first device and the first and second configurations, first information for the first measurement and second information for the second measurement; determining a first result of the first measurement based on the first information and a second result of the second measurement based on the second information; and transmitting the first result and the second result to the second device. As such, a fair comparison between the first and second results can be made, and thus it is helpful for the second device to make a correct mobility decision.

Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to measurement relaxation. In an aspect, a terminal device determines a short discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle and a long DRX cycle configured for the terminal device. Based on at least one of the short DRX cycle or the long DRX cycle, the terminal device determines at least one of (i) whether the terminal device is allowed to relax a measurement, or (ii) a relaxed evaluation period for the measurement. In an aspect, a method for communication comprises receiving, at a terminal device, from a network device an indication for the terminal device to establish a connection with a target cell. The method also comprises determining, based on the condition, a delay for the terminal device to establish the connection. The method further comprises establishing the connection within the delay. Embodiments of the disclosure provide a method, device and computer readable medium for detecting cells in scenarios of carrier aggregations. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, if the terminal device receives information indicating to connect to a different cell from the currently connecting cell, the terminal device detects the different cell in a spatial direction of the beam on which the information is received. In this way, a significant reduction in terminal device search and measurement effort is achieve, which leads to significant reduction in the latency.
