A method for controlling urea injection in an exhaust aftertreatment system includes injecting urea at a flow rate upstream of the first catalytic reduction device; measuring a level of nitrogen oxides downstream of the first catalytic reduction device and upstream of the second catalytic reduction device; controlling the flow rate of the urea injection until the measured level of nitrogen oxides fulfils a predetermined condition; if the measured level of nitrogen oxides is decreasing in response to reducing the flow rate of the urea injection, reducing the flow rate of the urea injection, and controlling a flow rate of urea injection using the second urea injector upstream of the second catalytic reduction device according to the measured level of nitrogen oxides downstream of the first catalytic reduction device and upstream of the second catalytic reduction device.

Controlling urea injection in exhaust after treatment systems

An internal combustion engine system, including an internal combustion engine (ICE), an exhaust aftertreatment system (EATS) located downstream of said ICE. An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pump arranged in an exhaust gas recirculation duct extending between the ICE and EATS, wherein the ICE system has a normal operation mode for transporting, by means of the EGR pump, at least a portion of said exhaust gas to upstream of the ICE. The ICE system further includes a heating device arranged upstream of at least one exhaust aftertreatment devices of said EATS and the ICE system has a pre-heat operation mode for transporting, by means of the EGR pump, exhaust gas and/or air through said heating device and then to said at least one of said exhaust aftertreatment devices.

Internal combustion engine system

The invention relates to a method for controlling the temperature of an NOx controlling component in an exhaust after treatment system of an internal combustion engine. The NOx controlling component has inner surface portions defining an interior component space through which exhaust gases are arranged to flow in order to be NOx controlled, and has outer surface portions facing away from the interior component space. The method comprises the step of: controlling the temperature of at least a portion of the NOx controlling component by a heat transfer medium arranged outside of the outer surface portions. The invention also relates to an exhaust after treatment system and a vehicle with such a system.

A hybrid powertrain includes a combustion engine, an electric machine arrangement, a gearbox operable to receive motive power from at least one of the combustion engine and the electric machine arrangement for providing motive power to a load of the powertrain. The powertrain is configurable in operation so that its combustion engine is switchable between an inactive state and an active state. The combustion engine is cranked to switch it from its inactive state to its active state. Application of cranking torque to the combustion engine is controlled in operation to substantially temporally coincide with a gear change in the gearbox.

Hybrid powertrain and method for controlling a hybrid powertrain

A hybrid powertrain includes a combustion engine operable to output rotational power thereat, an electric machine arrangement operable to output rotational power thereat, a gearbox arrangement for receiving rotational power from at least one of the combustion engine and the electric machine arrangement and being operable to couple motive power to a load coupled to the gearbox arrangement. The gearbox arrangement is operable to provide a plurality of gearing ratios. The electric machine arrangement is employable to extend a rotation rate range provided in a given gearing ratio: at higher rotation rates prior to a gear change from said given gearing ratio to a gearing ratio subsequent thereto; or at both lower rotation rates when accelerating from a standstill or from a preceding gear, and at higher rotation rates prior to a gear change from said given gearing ratio to a gearing ratio subsequent thereto.
