During PDN connection establishment in the EPC, a UE and a session management entity (SME) (e.g., PGW-C+SMF) exchange information. In case the SME supports more than one S-NSSAI, before the SME provides an S-NSSAI to the UE, the SME should check such that the selected S-NSSAI is among the UE's subscribed S-NSSAIs by retrieving the Subscribed S-NSSAI from a UDM using, for example, the Nudm_SDM_Get service operation.

In one aspect, an MME throttles (or otherwise controls) the amount or frequency of UL data that a UE transmits in the control plane, such as by communicating to the UE rate control information (e.g., a throttling factor or throttling delay). A shared Radio Network Node, RNN, and a method for managing overload in a core network. The shared RNN is configured to serve a wireless device, and the wireless device and the RNN are operating in a wireless communications network connected to the core network. The RNN receives a connection request from the wireless device, wherein the connection request comprises a mapping parameter configured to map to an MME connected to the RNN. Further, the MME is logically partitioned into several MMEs and configured to support multiple MME Codes, MMECs, each of which MMECs is pointing at a sharing operator. The mapping parameter comprises an MMEC configured to map to one MMEC supported by the MME. Further, the RNN rejects or redirects the connection request when the MMEC configured to map to one MMEC supported by the MME is associated with an overload action.

Managing overload in at least one core network

The embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a first node () for handling Quality of Service, QoS, information. The first node () receives information for a 5G QoS flow from a second node (). The information comprises 5G or 4G QoS information, or both 5G and 4G QoS information, or priority information. The first node () determines whether there are any available 4G bearer IDs. When there are no available 4G bearer IDs, the first node () determines an action for handling the information.

Method and node for handling QoS information

A method for default bearer translation with GBR bearer translation. A GBR bearer is known in UE, 5G-RAN, and SMFs from the existing QoS flow parameters from one or more QoS flows for a PDU session that includes an assigned value for guaranteed bit rate. In case a PDU session has multiple associated QoS flows that each include an assigned value for GBR, then each flow is determined as a candidate GBR bearer for the target E-UTRAN access. Each GBR bearer candidate is arranged in a priority order based on, for example, the QoS flow parameters (e.g., ARP), and the resulting EPS QCI when translating QoS flow parameters in 5G to a 4G representation. Hence common priority rules for 1:1 mapping between 5G representation and 4G representation can be used by the nodes having knowledge of the PDU session and the QoS flows characterized as GBR QoS flows.

The embodiments herein relate to a method implemented in radio access node. The radio access node receives a list of prioritized Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) Identities (IDs). The list of prioritized PLMN IDs comprises a PLMN ID of a serving PLMN and one or more PLMN IDs for one or more PLMNs of one or more shared networks. The radio access node instructs the wireless device to search for suitable cells for handover on at least one PLMN identified in the list of prioritized PLMN IDs and receives a list of suitable cells for handover. The radio access node determines a target PLMN ID and a target cell ID based on the list of suitable cells and the list of prioritized PLMN IDs. The radio access node initiates handover of the wireless device to a target cell identified by the target cell ID in the target PLMN.

A basestation in a cellular communications network is operable to send a message to a Mobility Management Entity, relating to a suspension or resumption of a connection of a UE, wherein the message contains key renewal information. The Mobility Management Entity receives the message, and determines whether a key renewal condition is met. If the key renewal condition is met, the MME forwards a new NH, NCC pair to the base station. If a message received from the MME includes a NH, NCC pair, the basestation derives keying information using the NH, NCC pair for future use in deriving keys.
