Data management units for supporting health control of a human or animal body. The units can include a processor adapted to process the following steps: i) if a number of previous measurement data referring to a corresponding tag stored in a data storage is less than a predetermined minimum value: a) no tag is automatically assigned to a new measurement value, or b) a corresponding tag chosen from a group of tags is automatically assigned to the new measurement value based on a first tagging calculation rule; and ii) if the number of the previous measurement data referring to a corresponding tag stored in the data storage is equal to or bigger than the predetermined minimum value, the corresponding tag chosen from a group of tags is automatically assigned to the new measurement value based on at least one second tagging calculation rule.

Data management unit for supporting health control

The present invention refers to a data management unit for supporting health control and a corresponding medical device comprising a data storage () adapted to store a plurality of measurement values of a physiological parameter, for example the fasting blood glucose level, and for each measurement value an associated time stamp and a trend indicator (), wherein the trend indicator is adapted to indicate different trend categories, for example an increasing trend, a steady trend and a decreasing trend, preferably as a respective visible sign () on a display () and/or as a respective audible signal by a loudspeaker, a processor () adapted to select a first group of measurement values and a second group of measurement values from the plurality of measurement values of the data storage () such that the associated time stamp of each of the measurement values of the first group is in a predefined first time interval and the associated time stamp of each of the measurement values of the second group is in a predefined second time interval, wherein the second time interval is more recent than the first time interval, wherein the processor is further adapted to calculate a first mean value as a median from the first group of measurement values and a second mean value from the second group of measurement values, wherein the processor () interacts with the trend indicator () such that the trend indicator () indicate one of the different trend categories, for example the increasing trend, the steady trend or the decreasing trend, dependent on a result of a comparison of the second mean value to the first mean value. Additionally, the invention refers to a corresponding method and a computer program for indicating a trend, and to a corresponding computer program product.

The invention relates to a medical device in combination with an optical reading device comprising at least one sensor, a meter display for displaying a matrix of pixels and a meter control unit adapted for controlling the meter display so that at least one measurement value measured by the sensor and/or a value derived thereof is encoded in an optical machine-readable signal, wherein the optical reading device is adapted to read the optical machine-readable signal from the medical device, to decode the optical machine-readable signal and to generate a message corresponding to the decoded optical machine-readable signal.
