The method and equipment described are for coherent scanning, that is where sections of the same object are comparable in the images, of objects such as food stuff based on scanning with the utilization of electromagnetic waves from at least two ranges within vision (visible light), NIR (near infrared light) and X-rays. The method consist of determination an object's reflection in the NIR and/or vision ranges associated with the same object's transmission in the X-ray range to obtain an even higher degree of details concerning the structure of the object by determining its surface texture together with description of its inner structure and/or composition. The equipment comprises a cabinet (), a computer (), a camera (), an X-ray source (), a light source (), and an X-ray detector (). An additional start sensor () registers the presence of objects on the conveyor belt () and the scanning is triggered.

A method for automatically determining quality characteristics of a carcass on a slaughterline. The method comprises conveying the carcass in a direction of transport, preliminary examination to determine the location of one or more anatomical reference parts of the carcass in the direction of transport, calculating the location in the direction of transport of at least one cross-section in the carcass using the location of the anatomical reference part(s) and possibly other data on the carcass, and CT measuring the nature of internal anatomical parts of the carcass in at least one of these cross-sections in the carcass, controlled by the calculated location.

Method and facility for automatically determining quality characteristics of a carcass on a slaughterline

This invention relates to a method and an apparatus for determining quality properties of fish on the basis of light reflection. A fish and a reflection measurement device ( ) with a light emitter and a light receiver ( ) are positioned in relation to each other, with the light emitter and light receiver of the device directed towards the fish's inner abdominal wall with peritoneum, so that the light emitter illuminates an area of the fish through the peritoneum and the light receiver captures the light reflected from the fish. The intensity of the reflected light is registered in three or more different wavelength bands, in the visible and near-infrared range. Measurement results registered are, after any processing, entered into an algorithm in a calculation unit, where the algorithm expresses a quality property of the fish.
